for every new job this month, 2 people stopped looking!!

The employment numbers keep plummeting.

That's not actually true at all, but whatever works for you.

How does the unemployment rate drop that far, and it happens on the same month right before election?  Seems like manipulating numbers to me.

Don't do this. The moment anyone starts accusing the BLS of manipulating their numbers that person should be ignored and dismissed as a crackpot.

If the Obama administration had the capability and the will to throw the jobs report, I suspect that it would look a bit different.

I think the numbers are legitimate, and that this was the best news Obama could expect in the circumstances.  Ideally, they would be better than January 2009, but it has been clear that wouldn't happen and nobody expected it to be better.

Honestly, it's slightly good news for Obama, but not enough to hand him the election.  It's a still a slow recovery.

Honestly, why would lifetime bureaucrats manipulate numbers? There is absolute no reason for them to do so, they are in no danger of losing their jobs.

The chances of them changing numbers, and then not have them below 2009 is quite odd, if they were to maniplulate numbers, they would have made it more constant instead of at the time where it looks the worst.

"The reported payrolls growth figure for September, 114,000 jobs, was incredibly close to consensus forecasts of about 115,000 jobs added. But everything else about the report considerably beat expectations. Jobs figures were revised upward by 40,000 in July, and by 46,000 in August. Combined with the jobs growth in September, that means the economy added 200,000 more jobs than we thought previously."

That's why we saw the big drop in %.

I was just as confused as the Morning Joe people when the numbers came out because we have been taught that numbers around 120K dont translate into 0.2 drops. The drop was really due to the revisions of past months, something which was better discussed on the following MSNBC show by the guy from Moody's who had previously said he thought the previous months were being under reported

That said, over 200,000 jobs were created in September 2011. Things are getting worse, not better, but if listening to liberal spin makes you feel better about watching America burn while Nero reads his teleprompter, well...
