I heard the Obama campaign blew a lot of money on fundraising advertisements in expensive media markets (but lucrative fundraising areas), like California and NY.

Obama's Chicago guys scared a lot of people into believing that Romney is a monster who wants to kill seniors and babies. The debate showed that this image of Romney they created was a figment of their imagination. How many donors wish they could get a refund? In terms of fundraising, earlier is better, especially at this point. By late October, it'll be pointless. 98% of the donations were under $250, with the average about $53, which is definitely good. I'm glad this is not SuperPAC money. First debate increased the odds of close election, but suggest that now Romney is the favorite isn't true (at least, polls haven't said that yet). It's more of a problem in House and state legislature races. And I doubt the next Democratic presidential candidate will have anywhere near the personal small donor pull that Obama does (unless it's Clinton, perhaps).
