Pioneering jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck has died, aged 91.

The musician, whose recordings included Take Five and Blue Rondo a la Turk, was once designated a "living legend" by the US Library of Congress.

He died on Wednesday morning in hospital in Connecticut, his manager Russell Gloyd told the Chicago Tribune newspaper.

Stunned, the world has lost a great artist. Very very sad. :(

RIP to one of my favourite musicians.

Instead of one minute silence, we should all Take Five. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faJE92phKzI)

EDIT: To include the link Simfan included elsewhere.

Sad news.  I got introduced to him through an awesome cover of "Rondo" performed by Keith Emerson back in the 60s.  : (

RIP

Well there's nothing too "stunning" about this news really, he was a day away from being 92. He certainly lead a full life and I'll always treasure the Time Out record. RIP.

Well, that's true, I just was taken aback when I heard he died.

You know, until I happened to watch the 2009 Kennedy Center Honours, I had assumed that he was, well, already dead. It was a surprise to see him there. After then it was a wish of mine to see him preform one day, a wish now I shall sadly never fulfill.

Yeah, you should probably never get your hopes up regarding seeing someone in their 90s perform live (unless the person happens to be Pete Seeger, since he seems to be immortal).
