Title: Super Polling Center: Early Presidential Poll
Post by: Maxwell on April 17, 2013, 04:45:01 PM
Because it is so early, I expect undecideds will be very high.

As much as I am a Federalist, if it were just a generic Federalist, I'd probably lean Tmth.

Generic Federalist, most likely.

Excluding a particularly exceptional Fed or Lib, Tmth.

The president, though I'm not sure that he runs for a second term.

Undecided. There is no such thing as a generic Liberal or Federalist; candidate quality is everything.

In retrospect, I should've included Jerry due to the fact that he had declared for a while.

You might be right (as that seems to be the trend in Atlasia), but I'll see how things are with this set-up.

This thing still has another day on it.

With this poll over, here's some results.

Presidential 1st Round Poll:
President Marokai Blue: 33%
Governor Tmthforu94: 24%
Generic Federalist: 19%
Generic Liberal: 7%
Write-Ins: 2%
None of The Above: 2%
Undecided: 12%

Tested Presidential Final Rounds:

Marokai takes strong majority of Liberal votes and a shockingly high amount of Federalist votes.

President Marokai: 43%
Governor Tmthforu94: 41%
Undecided: 16%

Marokai takes half of Liberal votes, Tmth gets very solid Federalist support.

Governor Tmthforu94: 43%
President Marokai: 41%
Undecided: 16%

Tmth gets strong majority of Liberal votes, also near universal Federalist support.

Governor Tmthforu94: 45%
President Marokai: 38%
Undecided: 16%

Analysis:
Tmth has already stated his intention NOT to run (the post was an April Fools joke, I certainly was the fool), but when tested against the Incumbent President, he performs solidly. Things out the gate look great for the President, who holds a 9 Point lead over Tmth on the first ballot. However, things don't get prettier from there. In one of the more sympathetic situations the Incumbent President leads Tmth by 2. Worst possible situation, and Tmth leads by 7. Granted, this is all under 50, with nearly 20% of Atlasians fairly undecided this early on, so that may not be an indicator of the Presidents competitiveness.

A number of votes in June could be affected by what happens in April, keep in mind. A close election is good, but how will the parties handle it?

Not a bad result. :P

VP Tmth? Sure, though I am liking the sound of Kalwejt's idea on a Wiki cabinet position a lot. But President Tmth probably isn't going to happen - I've already ridden that carousal. :)

Since Nix is running, this poll is completely irrelevant on two different counts now!
