This is my thread to update the forum about the goings-on of former forum Creep DWPerry, most well-known for posting waaaay too many pictures of himself with the same awkward grimace, hitting on Rin-Chan when she was like 16, and - if he sticks with it to the very end - the guy who apparently thinks you need to start running for President a decade before the election.

This is less votes for Alabama Senator than Hillary Clinton got.

Hey, 61k votes is actually not bad.  Nearly twice as many as muon2 got last election.  (Yeah I know, statewide versus state rep. election, but still.)  And frankly, that a forum poster actually got on a statewide ballot for something, and that one of his opponents in that election is now a sitting US senator is pretty impressive in itself.

But yeah, he was still an oddball.

It's a conspiracy. I for one saw a web poll in which said that 94% of likely Libertarian Primary voters claimed Perry won the debate. Clearly CNN is owned by the Libertarian Party establishment.

The Libertarian Party has a handful of easily-met requirements to list Presidential candidates on their website, including that the candidate has filed with the FEC. Fortunately for Perry, they've given him an exception (https://www.lp.org/candidates/presidential-candidates-2016/), because after all, the FEC "lacks constitutional authority."

It just occurred to me that one of our weirdest posters is a middle tier candidate for America's third largest party. Let that sink in.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he got second place in the voting. The LP has a sizable purist faction that doesn't care about things like experience, and they seem to like him. Influential LP activist Tom Knapp has him as his favorite candidate (http://knappster.blogspot.com/2016/01/looks-like-johnson-is-actually-going-to.html) (second to NOTA). Ian Freeman and Starchild (names that you'd know if you spent much time in LP circles) also endorse Perry.

Perhaps we could have him on for a Q&A sometime, like what Mark B. Graham did last year.

NICE! They actually have all four of the Libertarian candidates I would consider the top four, especially now that Kerbel dropped out. I get a 95% match to DW Perry... admittedly, there may have been more separation if they had asked questions like, "Should the United States be abolished?"

Incidentally, Perry is currently tied with Gary Johnson for most Libertarian Presidential debates attended at 6. He's debated in Massachusetts, Mississippi, Virginia, on Google Hangouts, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. The most recent, Pennsylvania, featured Perry alongside Governor Johnson, Doctor Feldman, and Crazy Reid. It had an "applause straw poll" at the end, which reports say went: Perry > Johnson > Feldman > Reid.

I fail to see what is wrong with using a candidates posts against him during a campaign. Teddy went after campaign staffers, not actual candidates. But DW Perry isn't a threat to Gary Johnson as the party purists now seem to be uniting 'round McAfee, so I have no intention to launch my #NeverPerry movement.

According to IPR (the online mecha of most devoted Libertarian Party activists), DW Perry is going into the convention as the top choice of the "True Libertarians." Don't be surprised if he places fourth behind Johnson, Peterson, and McAfee.

Peterson is the favorite of the ex-Cruz #NeverTrump folks, the most annoying of the cuck movement. The ones who always bitch and moan about the "TRUH CONSERVATUVES." Johnson has the support of the more moderate libertarians and Republicans. It's McAfee and Perry who seem to be the favorites of the hardliners in the Libertarian Party, and if they unite around one or the other, will probably be the bigger threat to Johnson.

It occurred to me as I wrote this that Perry has a very remote chance of performing very well.

The IPR poll actually told us a lot despite its small sample size and obvious radical bias. The interesting data isn't the percentages of support for each candidate, because we know a disproportionate number of radicals read IPR. The interesting things are the delegate:non-delegate ratio of candidates, as well as the second choices of candidate supporters. We learned:

• Petersen supporters are not likely to be delegates. So his victories in online polls don't mean much. Expect him to underperform at the convention.
• Perry supporters are very likely to be delegates. Expect him to overperform at the convention.
• Petersen supporters transfer their support mainly to Johnson.
• McAfee supporters scatter, slightly more to Johnson than anybody.
• Perry supporters prefer McAfee to Johnson.

So, the only candidate other than Johnson who could benefit from multiple ballots is McAfee, who could possibly gain Perry voters. To win, McAfee will need a ballot like: McAfee 40%, Johnson 30%, Perry 20%, Petersen 10%. It's not likely. But it is an interesting possibility that the convention could come down to McAfee begging Perry for an endorsement.

For Perry to win, he'll need to come very close to 50% on the first ballot, because supporters of all of his major opponents prefer Johnson to him.

Well, here's an office he might actually be competitive for.

Well, seeing as there is one Libertarian in the State House now and each Rep serves just over 3,000 constituents, there is a conceivable scenario in which he could win.

Well at least he supports voting rights. Cheshire 16 seems like an exceptionally unfriendly district for him. The two Democratic candidates got a combined 66.5%.

With a fundraising contest that weak, maybe we can give our friend a head start on donations and phone banking. :)

Oh it is like  the temporary people who staff polling places and apparently they keep voter lists at the ward level rather than at the county level. That is freaking weird.  These people in Hudson get paid $40 or something on election day. They are appointed by the county board of elections, by the Pub and Democratic election commissioners.
