Title: Texas Governor 2006
Post by: Max Power on March 15, 2005, 05:08:04 PM
What do you think? (I know not all of these candidates announced they would run, so don't get mad.)

Hutchison will have a tougher fight in the primary than if she wins and runs in the general.  Texas Democrats are dead and they would be better running any decent candidate for Hutchison's open seat.  If Perry wins the primary, the Dems have an outside shot on this one.

Frost couldn't even win his own congressional seat.

Yeah, but the Republicans needed Tom DeLay to gerrymander Texas so the Republicans could gain seats. If it weren't for DeLay's creative thinking, Frost would be in congress right now.

The districts were based on the 1991 Frost plan, the one that SC Justice Stephens said committed "geographical atrocities", and which the federal district court said was "patently ridiculous".  There is no reason that the legislature should not define congressional district boundaries.

Poor Ann. She can't help it! She's the biggest loser in the Lone Star state.

She was born with a silver foot in her mouth.

I would love for someone to say that to her face.

Bring back Ann Richards would be ideal,

failing that Martin Frost. Now that Rick Perry's approval ratings are recovering, he will probably be pretty strong for re-election however;  the 2006 race is shaping up to be looking quite boring.
