Title: Louisiana 2012 R Primary by CD
Post by: Miles on January 09, 2014, 06:57:33 PM
There may be somewhere better to put this, but oh well.

I've been working on breaking down these numbers.

This may be one reason why Romney did (comparatively) poorly in the general in LA. He didn't crack 30% in most CDs for the primary (and just barely so in the ones where he did).

CD6 was almost a perfect bellwether for the state.

Didn't Romney carry Orleans Parish?  I guess Orleans' influence is diluted by the districting.

Yep; it was his only parish. (https://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/state.php?fips=22&year=2012&f=0&off=0&elect=2)

I kinda expected CD2 to be closer, but I guess it makes sense given that there are few Republicans in Orleans Parish.

It might be worth calculating the results by the old CDs just to see if Romney won the old CD2.

Wow, Romney won the old CD2 by a point!
