Title: Petition for Third Parties in the Media
Post by: TommyC1776 on March 31, 2005, 12:17:14 PM
How do I create a petition signature?  I want to make one for third parties so they can get MORE attention on TV and radio.  Anyone care to help me with this????

Thanks,

K4P

I'm afraid petitions rarely work unless you have major names behind them, K4P.

Also, (blank spaces between your words)? I get the last one. :P

Oh I don't know about that.  The thread has perhaps, but your post seemed ok to me.

There is no true need for a petition in order to gain coverage.  The best coverage is free coverage, and you obtain that by either being in the right place at the right time or creating news.  The best bet any third-party representative (too early to be a candidate) has for getting into the news at the moment is to be at particular discussion groups, such as the current debates on social security and energy.  The party needs to look within themselves, find an "expert" on the topic, and work with the hosts of the forums and ask for a seat for the discussion.  Some of these think-tank groups would be more than happy to have a third opinion on an issue, especially if they have a lengthy background in or dealing with the topic at hand.

Outside of that, there is nothing wrong with political stops in various medium to large towns to hold their own personal discussions on the issues, and invite your own experts or celebraties to join in the debate.  The more you get out there, more the odds are that you will get attention.

I agree.  That is one thing I do like about Bush at the moment.  He's forcing this issue into the lime light and making both sides discuss it publicly.  This issue is normally considered the death blow to any candidate which dare mentions changing it, which is probably why Bush saved it for his second term.

I wish congressmen were more worried about the people who elected them rather than themselves.  Maybe they'd be re-elected based on merit and courage to take on the tough issues, rather than just spending a whole bunch of campaign contribitions to sit on their buts for a few more years.

At least your trying to do paper petitions. The people that actually believe that e-petitions will work are just delusional.

The people who actually think the media cares about anything that doesn't help the Republican party are just delusional.
