Title: My trip to Washington DC
Post by: Silent Hunter on April 01, 2005, 10:36:04 AM
I said I was going on holiday, but I didn't say where to. It was to the capital of the United States, Washington, DC.

Here's 10 of my thoughts- feel free to ask questions.

1. Dulles airport needs a lick of bright coloured paint- it's too grey.
2. I really like the countdown on the pedestrian crossings.
3. The generic peace protestors outside the White House were interesting. Apparently been there since 1981.
4.  Many of the places seemed to go very, very quickly.
5. The Spy Museum was good, but a bit too much to take in.
6. When did "Taxation without Representation" become DC's motto?
7. I thought the Vietnam Memorial was bigger than it actually was.
8. When's the Washington Monument open again?
9. It's very different from New York- no skyscrapers.
10. FOX news does treat you like an idiot.

It kinda descrives the situation they're in.

When's the Washington Monument open again?
Some time this summer, June I believe.
FOX news does treat you like an idiot.
Glad you were exposed :)

The number of pro-Kerry stickers in DC outnumbered the pro-Bush ones by at least 10 to 1.

I had to go into VA to see some really pro-Bush stuff.

2. I really like the countdown on the pedestrian crossings.

That's one of my favorite things about DC too.  It's a great idea.

Yeah, from the way that people talk about the war, you would think it would stretch on for miles and be 100 feet tall.

It's still pretty big, considering all the names listed on it.
