Apparently the city is struggling to figure out what to do about that. Even mundane things like trash cans would say "City of Boston Public Works, Mayor Tom Menino" or something so they have to decide whether to replace his name with the current mayor or just have a moratorium on putting mayors' names on things. I prefer the Gary Johnson Method of not putting the mayor/governor/executive's name on anything. That way signage only has to be replaced when it wears out, not every 4-8 years. I have a question regarding his 1997 re-election. Wiki says he was unopposed, but only won 71% of the vote. There didn't appear to be a 'None of the Above' or write-in option on the ballot in any of his other elections, so what happened that year?
