I always knew of Al Smith and so he earns my vote. These were terrible choices as were most of the elections of that era were.

In 1928 Herbert Hoover was the most popular person in the country. This Smith winnig thing could never happen. Smith was a Catholic! Americans didn't want a catholic in 1928!

My humble apologies. Still, interesting that the left-wing vote is split between Thomas and Smith and yet Hoover still suffers a landslide defeat.
