I fully support this. It's important for the minimum wage to be a living wage.

At first I was wary about this. Considering it is only slightly above the Federal Minimum wage, I support it.

Also having it adjust for inflation will prevent it from becoming stagnant in the future.

What about delaying the change in inflation to yearly instead of quarterly? I feel that changing the rate every three months would be confusing and hard for businesses and governments who set out a yearly budget which includes wages.

I'm definitely behind this. The federal minimum wage will be at $15 in July 2015 I believe, so it's nice that we're giving our workers in the Midwest a head start. I urge the Althing to pass this as is.

I'm offering this redraft to the Althing.

I'll sign this if my redraft passes or doesn't pass. This revised bill though is the original, pro-worker bill sponsored by Acting Archduke and Rep. Gass3268, so it doesn't change much at all. You do have the right to accept or reject the redraft.

Like I was saying in my office a few minutes ago, raising the minimum wage in the long run benefits everyone. Not just the workers, but also the government, the economy and yes, businesses. There's a large drive in consumer spending by doing so, a higher increase in productivity, and well-deserved better standards of living for workers across the region.

Before the introduction of new legislation the Althing should act on this redraft.

Thoughts on the Governor's proposal?

While I originally had the inflation increase set quarterly, I agree that there would be too much hassle to make this possible.

Maybe we could look into a pilot program in the future to see what it would take to do it quarterly.

Yea yearly seems fine with me.  And I feel like the fact that one of the sponsors has come to feel this way regarding the bill adds weight to keeping the bill the way it is.
