AP did update and fixed the numbers for Jackson (which Hood did not win).  I thought they looked weird on election night.

Forrest County, where I live, went for Hood but it was very close.

No guarantee. There are career politicians in obscure state offices that stay for decades. The SOS of New Hampshire and Treasurer of Iowa come to mind.

He'd probably get destroyed.

It will be an open seat - Cochran is going to retire. So I wouldn't rule anything out.

Depends on his opponent, but it'd be an open seat with Cochran very likely not to run again.

Tommy Irvin was the Democratic Agriculture Commissioner of Georgia from 1969 until he retired in 2011.

Well, Obama received 43%/44% while both times receiving only about 10% of whites. I'd guess around 25-30%, maybe lower.

It's proof of just how far the Democratic Party has fallen that they are rejoicing over winning the Mississippi Attorney General race

There are many states (Hawaii, Vermont, Rhode Island, and so on) where Republicans would rejoice winning comparable office. How low Republican party has fallen????

I'm talking about the amount of attention being paid to an inconsequential row office.  And if Republicans were harping on stuff like this as evidence of a good night I would say the same

^ Well, considering it was the only remotely competitive MS statewide race, I'd say it fittingly should have gotten the most attention.

Jim Hood has actually had a very consequential and nationally relevant tenure as MS AG.

As FF Hood said, "You've given me the opportunity as attorney general to fight for those who can't fight for themselves."

I will remind you your words next November. And i don't consider an AG office to be "inconsequental". It's not my native Russia, where exactly ONE office matters...

In the grand scheme of things the Kentucky gubernatorial election is quite inconsequential as well to everyone who doesn't live there.
