RINOTom wins the GOP nomination and picks Old School Republican as his running mate.  The Democrats go far to the left, nominating Scarlet and running mate JerryArkansas.  Being angry that the Republican ticket is not pro-life (even if OSR is pretty centrist on the issue), I launch a third-party campaign and pick Young Conservative as my running mate.  However, our ticket makes a conscious decision to only run in the South (the Census definition plus Missouri and minus Delaware, Maryland, and DC) and attempt to throw the election to the Republican-controlled House.

Additionally, election takes place in 2040 (I imagine we'll all be 35 by then), following a period in which Republicans held the White House for 20 of 24 years.  Outgoing two-term president Ted Cruz has shrunk the size of the government enough that DC is not as Democratic (due to the government) as it is in real life, and, without such a hefty government presence, it has become more suburban than it is today.

In the election, RINO Tom would have dominated, winning 44 states (losing MA, RI, MD, CA, AZ due to the home-state presence and Phoenix turning into a trendy hipster city in the late 2020s and 2030s, and NM).  However, the entrance of a third party in the South splits the Republican vote, allowing Scarlet to win many states.  Except, conservatives in the green Deep South states voted overwhelmingly for me instead of RINO Tom.  Florida and Arkansas are the closest states, with the vice presidential nominees tilting them from what we would expect (Green AR, Red FL).  The conservative House chooses me as president, and the Senate follows by choosing Young Conservative.

2036: Darthebearnc, who moved back to NJ in this scenario for some reason, wins the nomination and, right before the convention, is caught DEGRADING himself for running mate Emily Kinney, winning him North Dakota, the state that he feared getting the most, due to DEGRADING happenings.
Against all odds, TedBessell wins the nomination and responds to dar's sex scandal by replying "Madam Olivia is better," Madam Olivia being his running mate, Olivia Munn.
The VP debate between Munn and Kinney soon turned into a brawl between their running mates, trying to determine which is hotter. Moderator Peebs breaks up the fight, and allows the audience to vote on the matter. Munn wins the debate, and the election, for just a week after Bessell won, a brick with the message "Madam Emily is better" went through the window of his office, fatally hitting him.

President Winfield, eager to secure a second term despite much of the public finding him to be "pretentious" and "annoying", starts up a commission to sabotage the Democrats as best he can. Starting with the sensible Governor Bacon King of Georgia who went out when the humidity got something in his eye after an attack on his fiance, and it ended with Congressman Smith, eyed suspiciously for his connections to Kimmy Khones, a charismatic man with shades too big for his face. By the end only Activist Bandt Werker of Kentucky was left as dark horse candidate.

This should've been made the Democrats a laughing stock, but then juggernaut Governor Virginia stepped in as running mate.

The debates and campaign went on and on, and little about Montana or The West in general to be discussed outside SF, Seattle, and LA anyway. Enter Congressman Montana T. Treasurer, who got into congress by taking an angry woman by the arm and flinging it back to her, his claim? "Eh, she was a New Hampshire woman, she should've stopped hitting herself". In a strange bedfellows coalition, Rep. Treasurer tapped State Senator Pi O'Neare Progress of Utah.

And as if things couldn't get any stranger, a new rise of populist, good 'ol boy Southerners formed the new AIP, which selected the ticket of its party Chairman Sanchez of Florida and Sam Gothic of Louisiana .

These regional schisms managed to undermine the whole campaign effort of  President Winfield, which only got worse when rumors of a break in started to surface.

In the end, thanks to two regional splits and the Winfield campaign imploding, it was the cave-mouthed Bandt Worker wanting to "Give America Its Teeth Again" who ended up in the White House.
