Yes. "Only" 55-41 Trump this year, but that's more then enough....After all - it's Northern Dallas suburbs...

Totally safe R, although that district is significantly less white than it was in 2010 when it was drawn. This seat stays in Republican hands easily in 2018, though the 2020 redistricting might end up changing it from Safe R to Likely R depending on how it's redrawn.

Clearly Safe R, but who runs?

Van Taylor seems to have first refusal. It's been pointed out though that the Texas Senate is a pretty good gig and jumping ship for Congress is actually uncommon for State Senators

Huh, I've actually heard of Van Taylor.

He has a very punchable looking face and is a total weasel.

He got elected to the state house in 2010 running as this Tea Party Outsider Non-Politician. Never mind that he had already run for congress in the 17th district against Chet Edwards in 2006 and lost. And before that, he was living in some ritzy New York suburb working in finance. He went to Harvard and inherited a ton of family money.

This (https://www.nationaljournal.com/s/646510/van-taylor-expected-run-congress) is behind a paywall so I can't read it, and it's not the best source anyway, but it says that Van Taylor is "expected to run" whatever that means.

Van Taylor close to formally entering the race. (https://twitter.com/KyleTrygstad/status/818792327607099392)
No surprise, instant front-runner.

"Moving Van" Taylor found another seat he wants to buy with mommy and daddy's money. Yay!

The Texas legislature is probably cheering on Taylor's soon to come departure from their chambers (http://www.texasmonthly.com/list/the-best-and-worst-legislators-2013/the-worst-representative-van-taylor/)

He sounds like the future Ted Cruz of the House
