Title: The Vox Populi Institute for Epic and Legendary Threads
Post by: The world will shine with light in our nightmare on April 08, 2017, 02:19:57 PM
This thread is for the archiving of threads deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.  Please only contribute threads (preferably ones that have not been posted in for long periods of time) that have had a profound impact on the forum community at large.

In order for users to have a clear idea of what kind of submissions are being encouraged here, I will start off with two particularly noteworthy threads from the 2012 election season:

Should Democrats be worried about "mega coattails" (https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=162860.0) (created by the Institute's namesake, Vox Populi)
Romney ran as Independent (https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=152175.0)

This thead is a personal favorite:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=79279.0

because of Winfield's meltdown, in which he accused Romney critics of being closet homosexuals and Holocaust deniers:

It's not as comedic as the others, but you really can't have something like this without including this thread:

That is part of the reason why Lunar was the best poster in forum history.

Many threads on the International Elections board (just visit the board and you have a huge selection of great threads in front of you), particularly the ones devoted to maps and demographics. Also, it's a very neat and tidy board - you can easily find the lengthy, singular discussion threads on, say, the 2008 Canadian federal election, or the 2013 German federal election - whereas on the U.S. election boards things are more scattered. Election night discussion is also widely available as the forum generally doesn't crash on non-U.S. election nights.

(As an aside, I thought it was a good idea to read this through in a club meeting, but I broke down at the part where Kennedy is shot five times in the head during a meeting with the Polaqi PM. It was awk.)

I speak truth to power, and I say on this bright and bold sunny day, this is a cover up that goes to the highest levels of power - from the lowliest beggar to the (((media and banks))), to Donald Trump, to the Pope, the Devil, and, highest of them all, the moderators and Dave Leip! He who holds his tongue will be silenced. He who speaks will be silenced and remembered. The powers that be on this forum crushed Eharding because they were afraid of him. No more, I say! I come before you today to tell the truth: Kalwejt shot Kennedy! Mr. Morden was demodded. because he threatened to tell. For the same reasons, IceSpear, Ag, and a half dozen other posters have left or disappeared. Most notably, Eharding was brutally repressed.

By the way, it is Kennedy. (https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/rfk-if-he-wasnt-killed.340352/)*

*Actual quote from that thread:
SEPTEMBER 19,WHITE HOUSE,CALL BETWEEN LBJ AND ROBERT F KENNEDY
"The White House."

"President,(gasps for air) somebody bombed Miami. I think it is the Cubans. Send the army to the beaches of Miami.Call on some airplanes, too. This could be the start of a war. By the way,it is Kennedy."

Is Jason Ravnsborg / jravnsbo the most famous or important person who has ever had an Atlas account?

(I have read people saying that Larry J. Sabato used to lurk on Atlas, but they didn't seem to intend that he actually had an account)

Roger Stone made a few posts on AAD, if it counts.

Otherwise, yeah. We've had quite a few Atlas posters go on to become officeholders but Ravnsborg is by far the highest ranking.
