THE BIG NEWS

July 4th 1983

()

PRESIDENT REAGAN's ADDRESS TO THE NATION FOURTH OF JULY 1983

Reagan:*Starring at the screen* My fellow Americans on this great Fourth of July where we celebrate our nation's beginnings and the belief of freedom of Liberty I have news that will that you will not to hear in a time like this.

Today while a vist with the fine great medical staff at the White House broke me the news that I Ronald Wilson Reagan was in the early stages of lung cancer.  I in a moment of silence was shattered at the thought of having cancer but I carried on and listen and found out that the doctors told me to step down from the Presidency.

I froze and told them how about a compromise I finish out the rest of this term and find a way to treat this illiness.

I told them with all this stress of this job will prob kill me before I could get proper treatment but I don't want to drop out of this job in the middle of a economic boom and most importantly on the Fourth of July.

That is all thank you and God Bless America.

Looks very intriguing, but just a suggestion- try to improve the grammar and use of punctuation. It was a bit hard to read.

July 6 1983

THE RACE STARTS

After the news was out ultimately the favorite was either Vice President George Bush or Kansas senator Bob Dole. Meanwhile former Vice President Walter Mondale and 1980 runner up in the democratic primary Ted Kennedy were seen as the two favorites

And so it began

Polling started to come out showing that Bush was indeed the favorite for the Republicans and former Vice President Walter Mondale for the Democrats.

However soon a unlikely candidate would challenge and come face to face with Bush for the nomination

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

With 1984 underaway and the Iowa Caucuses only days away the unexpected 1984 race to the White House was underway officially

In a few weeks President Reagan will be giving his final state of the union with Republican candidate Phill Crane giving his response of the state of the union while former Vice President and Democratic candidate Walter Mondale would give his response of the State of the Union from the Democratic side.

In polling Vice President George Bush had a challenge for what would seem to be a cakewalk. New York congressman and former NFL quarterback Jack Kemp. Bush led 29% to Kemp's 27% national and was within a decent lead in Iowa where we won 4 years ago.

On the democratic side political activist Jesse Jackson came out of nowhere with his self proclaimed political revolution in the Democratic primaries and trails by only 2% to frontrunner Walter Mondale.

Meanwhile in Iowa we could be in a wild surprise in the Iowa Caucuses as Walter Mondale and Jesse Jackson are neck and neck in polling and could possibly see a real nailbitter in Iowa.

(Sorry the update was short I just am trying to get back into the mood of doing this TL)
