I'm curious who's you favorite current leader of a country in the world?

My current favoite after Obama left office is Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern. If elected, Emmanuel Macron would be equal to Kern. Trudeau is also worth mentioing, though he's only #2 in my list.

Taking into account the ones that I know about

Most are pretty terrible right now though.

Antonio Costa, Lenin Moreno, Evo Morales, Tabare Vazquez ... Stefan Lofven? Not a good crop tbh. Add Moon Jaein when he is elected.

Moreno is still President elect.

Theresa May, Bill English and Erna Solberg all come to mind.

Moreno when he swears in, Rutte or Trudeau for now.

May, then Merkel.

Ugh, dunno. I miss Mujica. :( Probably still one of the Latin American lefties left.

Honestly, I'm tempted to agree.

Costa, Trudeau, and Lenin when he gets inaugurated.

Rutte is a weird choice for you. He isn't liberal in the American sense of the word, he is a centre-right politician (right-wing on immigration, law and order and the economy while progressive on issues like abortion and euthanasia).

Anyway most of the world leaders suck. There are some European centre-right politicians who look decent but I don't really know enough about them to judge. I suppose I have to say Rutte because I'm a member of his party. Turnbull, Rajoy, Kenny and Rasmussen also are FF's

Justin Trudeau, Angela Merkel, António Costa, Mark Rutte, Xavier Bettel, Boyko Borisov, and Tsai Ing-Wen are my current favorites. Moon Jae-in will get on the list if/when he wins, and Macron will soar to number one.

He's a populist-ish centrist-ish. Trudeau is better, for sure. Not a great batch of leaders to choose from, no matter what.

Rutte (and especially his party) is centre-right. The VVD is one of the more neoliberal mainstream centre-right parties in Europe imo.

Pope Francis, Evo Morales.

Tie between Trudeau and Macron now. I wish I could speak proudly of my own country's leader, but alas, Netanyahu is terrible. If somehow Erel Margalit won the Labour election and then formed a government, though, he'd jump to first place.

Merkel, Kenny, Löfven, Rutte and Macri. Trudeau... i like him but i don't think he's an effective leader. Also, an honorable mention to Rajoy. Yes, i know, he's involved in many corruption scandals and all of that but i think he has a good PM during the crisis years.

VVD is definitely closer to being classical liberal than populist.

Macri is probably my favorite world leader who could be described as right of center, mostly because he seems stable enough and is not of the awful "Peronist" tradition.

The VVD accept the fundamental tenets of the Dutch welfare state, so no, fortunately they are not at all close to being classical liberal. They are, however, pretty populist.

What's more, populism is not an ideology, it's more of a style (Americans don't seem to get this and I don't know why). A party can theoretically be both classical liberal and populist.

Enda Kenny.  He brought Ireland back from the brink.

IIRC, isn't your PM a score something like -7.50 economics?

Antonio Costa, Justin Trudeau, Alexander van der Bellen, Stefan Löfven, Emmanuel Macron, Angela Merkel are all varying levels of acceptable because each has some commitment to democracy, freedom and equality, even if Trudeau, Macron and Merkel are to my right. Some of the Latin American lefties like Evo are fine too, but I'm suspicious of their apologist stances on Venezuela. Lula will be up there when he wins the presidency of Brazil.

Generally, though, most world leaders suck.

Outside of the US, Theresa May.  She'll probably be tied with Sebastian Kurz if he becomes chancellor.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stock is rising fast, Uzbekistan is developing close relationships with its' Central Asian neighbors after being a total jerk nation under Karimov.
