Title: North Korea ‘willing to talk’ with US about nuclear moratorium
Post by: Beet on June 21, 2017, 10:51:51 PM
"NORTH Korea has indicated it is open to a moratorium on its nuclear and ballistic missile testing, in unusually frank comments from one of the country’s ambassadors.

Tensions have been high between the US and the rogue state since American student Otto Warmbier died as a result of a catastrophic brain injury sustained while he was detained by North Korea.

But, the reclusive nation’s ambassador to India, Kye Chun Yong, has told Indian TV that it is prepared to halt its weapons testing program if the US stops its military exercises in the region."

The Chinese and South Koreans are also on board with this plan.

China is running victory laps now. How humiliating for America.

So says the guy who said he hoped for nuclear war more than anything.

Hoping for China's destruction (something I admit is not possible) is not the same thing as wishing for nuclear warfare.

I doubt much will come of this considering NK just called Trump a psychopath http://www.9news.com.au/world/2017/06/22/16/30/n-korea-calls-trump-a-psychopath

The ironic thing is they praised him last year and endorsed him over Hillary:

Not unusual for North Korean official sources.

The only real question here is whether South Korean politics is at a point where they'll choose to engage in this pointless kabuki theatre.  Actually, South Korea is at this point better off if they continue to force the North to engage in pointless propaganda nuclear tests that use up some of the North's production than if they give the North a chance to build up their stockpile while engaging in meaningless talks that will last without result until the North feels the need to test again.

So you want them to keep testing? What happens then?

Kim's a megalomaniac, but he's not an idiot. He knows if he actually used a nuke, he's toast. At this point, there's no added danger from continued North Korean tests. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. This is one of them.
