Someone sane, to balance the ticket.

Clark/Dean or Clark/Richardson wouldn't have been bad.

Clark / Dodd

A Senator or Congressman might have been a good pick.  NATO gave Clark executive experience, but he would need a good point man to get bills through the legislature.  Kerry, Durbin, Biden, and Gephardt come to mind.

Clark/Dean... there you go "Inexperience X2" that could be their campaign slogan. He would've picked Hillary Clinton DUH.

He doesn't even know Richardson or Biden.

I'd say he probably picks either Kerry or Richardson. Dean didn't have any foreign affairs experience, which could have hurt the ticket, while Biden made too many gaffes. Kerry and Richardson both had large amounts of both foreign and domestic policy experience and that would have been what Clark would have been looking for. And Hillary Clinton would have been too inexperienced for Clark to pick her, not to mention that it would be awkward to have a Former First Lady as your VP pick (that's probably part of the reason why Obama didn't pick her).

Why not Joe Lieberman? They have similar views.

Kucinich, and then resign immediately after taking office.

Maybe this would be when Even Bayh would actually be picked. He's a Senator who was Governor for 8 years as well. From a midwest state.

Clark was a general. That's a lot of experience.

You can't legitimately say Clark was inexperienced, though, especially on foreign affairs.

Clark was inexperienced.

Fixed.

Bayh would be a good choice, though some liberals would be upset. Nonetheless, a Clark/Bayh ticket would have the highest variables in terms of swings. So good on paper, and yet the potential for an epic fail.

Honestly, probably another one of the '04 contenders like Kerry, Edwards or Gephardt, just as Kerry ultimately chose between Clark, Gephardt and Edwards. Richardson really isn't a very talented candidate and he was only two years into his governorship. Bayh would have caused Dems to lose a Senate seat in a pivotal race.

Clark actually knew what the military is, instead of pathetic draft dodger, hiding in the Air National Guard thanks to his daddy connections.

And Dean spend a lot of years as Governor.

Anyway, Clark would have to pick someone with a record of holding an electoral office for sure.

Clark/Biden, maybe - Clark has executive experience, while Biden has legislative experience. Maybe Kerry, HRC, or Kennedy

Biden--Good candidate on paper, but makes a lot of gaffes and that could hurt the ticket.
Kerry--Good pick.
Hillary Clinton--It might have helped with women. However, it might have hurt because Hillary would have been very polarizing, perceived as kinda inexperienced, and because it would be kinda awkward to pick a former First Lady as VP.
Ted Kennedy--No way. Bad pick. He was too old, too liberal, and Chapaquiddick would come back to haunt the ticket and Clark's judgment in picking Kennedy.

What about Rep. Pat Kennedy (D-RI)?

This. He has a lot of controversies, and he has bipolar disorder and lifetime struggles with alcohol and depression. No one would want that in a VP.

Probably Governor Mark Warner of Virginia. Warner had spent his life in business and came from the swing state of Virginia.

If I were Clark I probably would have narrowed it down to Sen. Kerry, Sen. Feingold, or Gov. Sebelius. Out of those three, I likely would have picked Sen. Feingold, because his postition as an unabashed liberal is much different than mine as Clintonite Moderate. This would hopefully unite the Democratic base against Dubya...

I disagree. Clark needed someone who was ideologically similar to him because the GOP would go after a liberal. Other than Obama, LBJ, and FDR liberals lose in America. Mark Warner of Virginia would have been Clark's best pick; he would have carried Virginia plus had a running mate with the business backround he lacked.
