Not sure what to feel. I honestly like Najib more than Ibrahim even if I'm not a fan of the BN at all. Maybe Najib gets a mandate within his party?

I'm going to be a pessimist though and not be surprised if he gets canned in an inter-party coup.

I would imagine you would not like Anwar.  As I mentioned before, he is the Ozawa of Malaysian politics.  I think unless he is able to make fraud stick in this election, the PK did not gain enough ground for him to retain his position as leader of opposition.

BN 128 PK 78.  If BN ends up losing seats which it will but most likely in the high single digits, then Najib's future is cloudy.   He did not get the 2/3 majority needed for him to make sure he stays in charge but did not lose enough seats to ensure that UNMO will oust him.  Especially when the election is not really over as opposition may dispute 20-30 seats.   One thing I did notice looking at the results that close elections are won by BN by a ratio or something like 4 to 1 when in theory it should be 1 to 1.  PK might be on to something but they will need proof.
30  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 12:44:39 pm
BN 124 PK 73.
31  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 12:36:02 pm
Right now it is BN 122 PK 71.  Note within PK it is PAS (16); DAP (35); PKR (20).  DAP clearly is the party that gains within the PK camp due to the swing of the Chinese vote toward PK.  On the other side of the ledger, PAS and PKR lost seats, especially PKR.

BN set to win 128 seats in all, losing 12 seats from 2008.

Opposition's Anwar refuses to concede in controversial Malaysia election

Sarawak.  In 2008 it was BN 29 PK 2.  In 2013 it is BN 25 PK 6.
35  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:56:37 am
So far it is BN 112 PK 58.
36  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:55:45 am
PK leader Anwar plans to contest some of the results as BN gains majority.
37  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:54:35 am
BN's victory came mostly the way many people expected.  It lost the Chinese vote but made up for it by taking Malay vote from PAS.  BN making gains in places like Kelantan which is a PAS stronghold is how it is making up for losses elsewhere.

BN at 112 seats and a majority.

PK is highlighting cases of possible fraud where multiple cases of indelible ink that can be removed.
40  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:43:51 am
BN at 108 and set to win a majority.  PK at 55.
41  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:40:34 am
It is now BN 97 PK 49.
42  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:35:56 am
Looking at the seats PK has gained I think PK is en route to win about 100 seats but most likely no more.
43  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 11:33:16 am
PK did make some progress in Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.  In other states BN is doing better than expected.  Right now it is BN 80 and PK 37.  To be fair a lot of the 80 are in places like Sarawak and Sabah where BN won most of the seats but did lose some seats to PK.
44  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 06:55:54 am
Johor is moving toward PR like I predicted so the overall results will be close.  The winning coaltion will be decided in Sabah and Sarawak.
45  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 06:49:26 am
Early count from Johor looking good for PR.  In  Pasir Gudang where in 2008 BN won 65-33 PRK is now ahead.  On the other hand in some places where PR won in 2008 BN is very close or ahead.  There might be a lot of turnover in this election.
46  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 06:17:47 am
With counting in progress, both BN and PR are leaking their projections.  BN claims 145 seats with 118 as their worst case scenario.  PR claims 125 seats with 100 as their worst case scenario.
47  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Malaysia election 2013 on: May 05, 2013, 05:40:15 am
Would the PR actually revise NEP? I've grown increasingly skeptical of such an outcome.

I agree.  PKR and DAP of the PK are running on changing NEP.  PAS is keeping silent as to show a united front but not supporting it as not to lose Malay votes.  I think the momentum in favor of revising NEF would be from Malay youth concerned about the inefficient affect on the economy that would vote for PRK and DAP.  There is always of a risk of PAS defection to BN in case of a PR victory over this issue. I hope this election could lead to the removal of NEP just like I hope that affirmative action be struck down once and for all in USA.

Polls closed 1.5 hours ago and counting started 1 hour ago.  Results in coming in around 1 hour from now.  Turnout at historic high of 80%.  This is not a good sign for BN.
49  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Americans Overwhelmingly Support Surveillance-State on: May 04, 2013, 05:07:06 pm
Ever since I moved to the UK, I've noticed that there are cameras everywhere here. There's generally less crime here, but the cameras still make me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

Surveillance does not even come close to attacking the nature behind crime in America.

I was pretty much going to make the same comment.  I spent a lot of time in UK and mainland Europe on different business trips last decade or so.  Talking to people there it is clear that they really do not have this same views on privacy as people in USA does.  While I am an immigrant to USA my views on this topic has for sure influenced by mainstream USA opinion.  I noticed that my parents feel that having cameras everywhere is very reasonable, just like the Europeans.
50  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: 44% of Republicans believe an armed revolution against the government necessary on: May 04, 2013, 05:04:03 pm
I feel this is mostly a function of having Obama in office.  I suspect once Obama moves on, even if he is replaced with a Democrat, this percentage will fall across the board.  This really the same as gun ownership which surged after Obama was elected.  While I do not feel the same way, my disdain for Obama and his regime means I do take pleasure at this high of a percentage that feels this way.
