76  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Maine Senate 2008 on: December 07, 2006, 06:48:30 pm
Based upon the news today that Rep. Allen might challenge Sen. Collins, who would win and with what percentage?

I vote for Collins with >55%, similar to her win in 2002.  That 73% JA rating of hers is a lot to overcome.

Lean R

VA - Warner

Does this assume that Warner will retire?  I remember seeing somewhere that a Virginia insider said Warner's running again was as likely as "Hillary running in 2008"-maybe I'll try to find the link later.

I would assume Warner would be safe if he ran again, despite the Dems' recent gains here (assuming Mark Warner doesn't run, of course).

Iskason 53% Carter 46%

But if this race had happened in 2006 would Carter have won?

no.

Then, two Carters would've lost for Senate in the same year!

Isakson would probably win, perhaps fairly easily.   Republicans have made major gains in GA recently, and this is a tough state for any Democrat.

Besides, a signficant % of the GA voters today weren't voters there when Carter ran for President, or when he was the popular governor.

If he ran against Chambliss in 2008, however, it might be a bit closer.

Yep, the runoff is scheduled to be next Tuesday 12/12.  There is still a possibility, though, that a court overturn the date between now and then.

This is my first post on this forum, so here goes:

A new SurveyUSA poll for the TX-23 runoff shows Bonilla up 53%-46%.
