Okay....tell me why we should vote for you.

I've entered this forum with enthusiasm, I am a frequent poster, and even though my maps may not always make sense, I always have some sort of logic to explain them.

27105  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Election What-ifs? / Re: The Presidency of Harold Stassen on: November 15, 2007, 04:12:05 pm
Two questions:

1. Why was Adlai Stevenson not a factor in the race for the 1952 Democratic nomination?
2. What has become of Eisenhower?

1.  Stevenson originally didn't want to run, and he only ran after a lot of pressuring by Truman, so I figure he really didn't want to get involved.

2.  Eisenhower is retired from the military, and is not really involved in politics.

27107  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Presidential Election Trends / Re: How will the political landscape be in 2024? on: November 14, 2007, 05:49:36 pm
That's kind of a wide-ranging, unanswerable question.

That's for sure. No one in 1990 would've very accurately predicted what it'd look like today.

27109  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Bayh Indiana on: November 14, 2007, 05:37:24 pm
Under the right circumstances, she could take Indiana if she has Bayh on the ticket.  The GOP nominee would need to be bad (Romney, Giuliani), and the winds would have to blow Democratic.
27110  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / U.S. Presidential Election Results / 1948 without Thurmond or Wallace on: November 14, 2007, 04:42:39 pm
If you give Thurmond and Wallace to Truman, which is what would have happened, this is what you get:

Truman wins the electoral vote 429-102, and the popular vote 54.33-45.07.
27111  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / U.S. Presidential Election Results / 2000 without Nader on: November 14, 2007, 04:31:32 pm
I know this logic is faulty, and it has probably been done before, but this is 2000 if you give all of Nader's votes to Gore:

Gore wins the electoral vote 296-242, and the popular vote 51.11-47.87.

I could see West Virginia flipping with Giuliani or Romney as the nominee.  If Thompson is nominated, then WV will stay in the GOP column.

27125  General Politics / Individual Politics / Re: did Jesus exist? on: November 12, 2007, 08:52:09 pm

There is significant evidence from the period that suggests he saw himself as another prophet within Judaism, though we can't know for certain.

As a Jew, that is the opinion I have of him.  He was certainly a great man, and I would have no problem putting a collection of his speeches into the Tanakh right along with Jeremiah, Isaiah, and the others.
