151  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Dropout delegates - on: January 04, 2008, 12:09:12 pm

Sorry again for my ignorance to the process, but I am trying to learn.

Say Clinton drops out of the race now, who gets her delegates from Iowa?

Cheers
152  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Why so few delegates for Obama on: January 04, 2008, 09:15:01 am

Cheers.

It's taking me a while to get through all the posts since I checked last night!
153  General Politics / Political Debate / Re: Would you boycott a business if it was owned by a Muslim? on: January 04, 2008, 05:41:17 am
Definitely not, in answer to the question

A few assaults on Sikhs, hindus etc happened after 9/11 because people thought they were muslim.

It might be difficult to assess who is muslim, afterall, you can be white and islamic.

Now there is a question...

the people who answered 'no', would you shop there is the owners were white and muslim?
154  General Politics / Political Debate / Re: Ralph and Jennifer on: January 04, 2008, 05:38:24 am

I can't believe people could accept this scenario and not gay marriage between 2 unrelated people!
155  General Politics / Political Debate / Re: Demonizing Gay People on: January 04, 2008, 05:36:53 am

I can't believe that homosexuality is such a big deal in the US.

It's settled law in the UK and several other European countries, which the US is comparable too!
156  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Why so few delegates for Obama on: January 04, 2008, 04:08:22 am

Obama crushed his competitiors, yet, he only gets 1 delegate over Edwards/Clinton why is this?

cheers

Chris

I'll catch the results in the morning - it'll be like Christmas eve tonight
158  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: iowa results on: January 03, 2008, 11:08:55 am
i'd like to apologise for the bad name of this entry too.
I hope it doesn't get anybodies hopes up.

Sorry
159  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / iowa results on: January 03, 2008, 11:06:19 am

Sorry if these questions seem stupid, but I'm still learning!

What time will the results be out?

What about exit polls?

Cheers
160  General Politics / International General Discussion / Re: Welcome to the Eurozone, Cyprus and Malta on: January 02, 2008, 07:06:59 am
I think this is the most logical reason for the UK not joining:

I don't want to join the Euro because my keyboard doesn't have a Euro button, which would be annoying if I had to use insert/alt to put it in!

161  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Predict Iowa for the Democrats on: January 01, 2008, 10:43:32 am

Edwards - 30
Clinton - 28
Obama - 28
162  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Elizabeth Edwards on: December 31, 2007, 06:51:14 am

Say John Edwards wins the nomination and is campaigning for the general when his wife's illness becomes serious.

Does he continue campaigning?

What happens if she dies?

How does it affect the election?

163  Election Archive / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Campaign / Re: The shootings and the campaign on: December 19, 2007, 11:16:56 am

As a side point:

In US the police say "Stop or I'll shoot"
In Europe the police say "Stop or I'll say stop again!"

To answer your question...because it is safer
165  Election Archive / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Campaign / Re: The shootings and the campaign on: December 18, 2007, 11:35:48 am
Doh!

How stupid of me to find the wrong data.

Cheers!
166  Election Archive / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Campaign / Re: The shootings and the campaign on: December 17, 2007, 02:52:53 pm
Yes but if you throw a TV in a pool is the pool killing you?

I agree about that if you want to murder you'll find a way but giving someone a gun hardly helps!

Just adding some stats to the arguement

murder rate in 2000s  per 100,000 people
US 5.9
Iran 2.93
European Union 2.37
United Kingdom 2.03
Canada 2.01
France 1.64
England,  Wales 1.62
New Zealand 1.29
 Australia 1.28

I think that says it all...

About the swimming pool/gun arguement:

Drowning in a swimming pool is an accident, being shot is purposeful...
168  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: The 2008 Elections from a European point of view on: December 08, 2007, 03:22:29 pm

What I was meaning was that it was settled law, whilst in the US it isn't, it's divisive.

In the US voters will look at the abortion views of the candidate whilst in UK they wouldn't!
169  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: The 2008 Elections from a European point of view on: December 08, 2007, 02:16:17 pm

I'm unsure why you'd vote labour?

They are pro abortion, pro gay rights, pro benefits, pro universal healthcare, pro high tax,
(and unfortunately pro war).

Can you explain?
170  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: The 2008 Elections from a European point of view on: December 08, 2007, 09:36:53 am

On a political show called "Question Time" in the UK, the conservative MP on the show said that if he lived in America he would be a democrat!

I believe that, generally, Europe is far more liberal/left that the US and I think that is a good thing!

Gay marriage/abortion etc  are already implemented and are non-issues in many places!
171  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Biden won't serve as secretary of state on: December 02, 2007, 08:16:48 am

If Biden accepted the SoS position.
Would Castle run for the senate? Would he win? Would the dems risk losing a safe seat?

172  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: December Poll: Republicans on: December 02, 2007, 08:13:12 am

Rudy Guiliani.

Although I don't know if he can win the general election
173  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: CNN Debate? on: December 02, 2007, 08:12:19 am

I watched the debate on youtube, it has it ordered by questions.
174  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: December Poll: Democrats on: December 02, 2007, 08:11:34 am

I'd love it if Kucinich would win, he is a true progressive liberal, however, as he has no chance of winning either the nomination or, more importantly, the general election, I'd vote Clinton as I believe she can win the general election.

I think sometimes, you have to look at who can win the general election and not who may be the best.
175  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: The DNC has officially stripped MI of its delegates. on: December 02, 2007, 08:08:23 am

If I was a Michigan democrat, I'd have to consider not voting for them.
I'd say "It's my party too"

I think  this could hurt the dems in most elections, however, in 2008, I still believe they win the election.

Did the Republicans do something similar in Michigan?

Cheers
