Well, thankfully, JJ, a bill is about to pass that will make deregistration legal. Smiley So once Snowguy closes that vote and Fritz signs it, citizens can finally deregister from Atlasia if they wish. Smiley

Though I guess Mourdock hasn't officially declared it, he's "made a decision" and will begin touring the state in a couple weeks to give the special announcement.

Do you think it might be possible he is doing this to get his name out there, bring in funds, than run for Governor?
No, he's said he's said, that "a lot of people have been asking me if I'm going to run for the US Senate seat. I've made a decision, and within a couple weeks, I'll be touring the state to make a special announcement.

And besides, he's not going to run for Governor. That's Pence's divine right. Tongue

Starting tomorrow, I will begin messaging members who have volunteered to speak at the convention. If anyone has not signed up yet and wants to, or unsure when they are speaking, please contact me ASAP.

Just an FYI in case anyone has forgotten the candidates different position on deregistration...Tongue

Deregistration: This wasnít an issue I had thought about until recently when it came up, but after consideration, I would support deregistration.

I am hesitant of any bill that requires a certain amount of posting in a specific forum, as it just encourages spamming on threads, especially polls, where you can make a quick and easy post.

Analysis: Joe Donnelly is pretty decent candidate for Indiana. There are two area's he fails at though - Area 1 is he isn't as likeable as a Democrat needs to be to win. Secondly is his support for Obamacare - that right there killed him for me, and I know many other Lugar Republicans feel the same way. Mourdock is way out there, but at the end of the day, people are going to be voting as a referendum on Barack Obama, and because of that, I expect Mourdock to win by around 5 points.

For the House races, the only race that could be somewhat close is my district, the "Bloody 8th". Walorski has things wrapped up in the 2nd, and I don't think Young was ever in serious trouble in the 9th. Bucshon just isn't that good of a politician, and his opponent, Dave Crooks, has outraised him. Democrats have an eye on this seat, but they aren't focusing too much - neither candidate has been on the air much, but it's a ground game operation, and at the end of the day, I still expect Bucshon to win by around a 55-45 margin - he just isn't controversial enough to lose.

Richard Mourdock is challenging Lugar.

The bad news? He's a favorite among Tea Partiers, isn't completely insane, and has won statewide before.

The good news? He's as boring as a box of rocks (IMO)

Tmth: Unfamiliar with a variety of laws, consistently dodges questions about his proposals concerning the debt and asks others to do the work for him.
I have no problem admitting I don't know every Atlasian law under the Sun, and I doubt you or anyone else does either.

However, you're second line is completely and utterly false. I have a list of proposed budget cuts to the military which I sent to Badger about a week ago, and he has promised that within the week, he'll have some numbers back to me on the effects. I'm not going to post those numbers publically until I know what their effects would be, but if you'd like to hit me up sometime on AIM or private message, I'd be more than happy to work with you on them, as I'm sure you'd be willing to provide some insight.

And Marokai, the fact that it was only 5 or so pieces of legislation makes it even worse, because that could have easily been taken care of in less than an hour. You neglected to do one of the easiest jobs in Atlasia - updating the Wiki.
11762  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Question Time with Marokai and PS on: February 07, 2011, 02:43:21 am
If it wasn't a political maneuver, you wouldn't be here faux-shaming me over it.
I didn't say a word about it until you brought it up tonight, and I wasn't planning on saying anything. I did it because it needed to be done. I would have done the same thing if (pulls name out of hat) PiT was AG and wasn't updating the statue. And if he would have tried to shrug it off and act like it was no big deal that he was neglecting his job, I would have called him out on it too.
11763  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Question Time with Marokai and PS on: February 07, 2011, 02:36:21 am
Forgive me for not keeping up with such a busy legislative body.
You can't even keep up with a slow legislative body. Imagine how awful it'd be if they had been especially active this session! Tongue

Marokai, you're job as AG should be above running this campaign. Part of that job is updating the wiki. You know how long it took be to do it? 30 minutes. And don't try and say you haven't had time, because everyone know's you have plenty of time on your hands to spend half an hour doing your only job right now.  If running this campaign is tmth (too much to handle) and detracts from your real job, you should either resign or drop out of the race.

Like I said, I took time away from Atlasia for a few days and didn't see Kalwejt mention it. If he actually wanted it, he could've PMed me, or sent me a message on AIM, both of which he didn't do. He then immediately ran to you, my political opponent, to do the job instead. He clearly didn't care that much about it and just wanted something to counter any complaints about Snowguy's poor tenure as PPT. (As if me not updating the wiki with legislation you can count on one hand is actually a blight on my record.)

Marokai, no one should have to remind you to do your job. And in defending Kalwejt, he didnít run to me and ask me to do it. I told him it needed to be done, and asked him if itíd be okay, to which he said yes. This was not a political maneuver on either of our parts. It just needed to be done.

11765  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: First Presidential Debate (Closing Statements) on: February 06, 2011, 11:18:48 pm
Why can't this be started?

Archangel sent out a private message to all remaining candidates several days ago about the debate, and asked for everyone to respond so we can begin. So far, I'm the only one who's responded, which is certainly frustrating, as I know both of you have had plenty of time to respond to the message. If the two of you really want another debate, I ask that you please respond to Archangel ASAP.

Lord have mercy.

I've responded to him many times before asking for more debates but apparently I need to hold everyone's damn hand by responding with a specific time before we can actually move forward. Okay, sure.
He asked in the message what time works best for everyone to avoid scheduling the debate at a time inconvient for one of the members. When someone asks me a question like that, I try to at least respond with a "Whatever works for you". I don't see what's so crazy about that request.

I'm surprised Huntsman does that much better than the other unknowns. Just about everyone who knows who he is must be breaking for him.

Of course, this further proves why Romney would be the best candidate for Republicans.

Agreed. I'm not saying he'd win, but it isn't impossible to make up 14 points. McMahon made up a lot of ground last year in Connecticut, and turned a race that was once considered to be safe for Democrats into a tossup until a week or so before the election when it pulled back to Blumenthal.

If we're going to waste money by changing the names, we should at least be changing it to real Atlasians, not people who don't exist in our world. This is just playing partisan politics, and for what? It's sad something as minor as this is one of the most heated discussions for this session.
11775  Forum Community / Forum Community / Re: What languages do you speak? on: February 06, 2011, 02:23:36 am
Fluent English
Somewhat decent German

Lucky you, I barely remember anything in German from HS.
I know the basics. Can probably carry on a conversation, but I couldn't just sit down and write a 5 page essay with no mistakes. Wink Franzl has actually been a good help for me with my German, as I know he speaks it well.
