I assume the thread intended 2016 as in "post-November 2016". So that's two election cycles.
Ok, then add Nevada to my map, that's it. Assuming Dems keep the state legislature after 2014. Keep in mind that there has never been a campaign to replace a constitutional amendment against gay marriage with one to allow it, so we don't know how it would play out.

I'm being very generous with New Jersey and Colorado. I'm also assuming that prop 8 is struck down in June (if not, grey out California). Some of your predictions are so ridiculous and out there that I don't believe many of you fully grasp what it would take to get same-sex marriage in most of the states that you guys have it legal in. 2016 is less than 3 years, and only one election (not counting off year elections), away.

Here's an example of someone who opposes same-sex marriage (From the Minnesota for Marriage Facebook comments): Wow the queers are coming here and being so negative again. It reminds me of election time when all the no voters were so nasty. Why do you queers and queer supporters come here? This is clearly a "one man,one woman" website. Why don't you all stay on your own homosexual websites. If you want peace than quit waging war.You claim you want a free country. Then quit trying to infringe upon our freedom of speech and religeon. If you feel "queer"is insultive ,then perhaps homosexual support centers should not be called"the queer center"? "This is a divisive issue! Stop trying to divide Minnesota! What we did with Amendment 1 was totally not divisive tho."

The votes are probably *there* in Illinois, but many of them are being non-committal. Just like in Minnesota when all the "undecided" Democrats broke towards same-sex marriage, I think something like that would happen in Illinois (although they probably all wouldn't break in the same direction, but most would vote for same-sex marriage).
Quinn is speaking out of his ass, but he's probably right.

Ugh..... SCREW YOU, CHRISTIE!!! Absurd how we just stick out. I'd be willing to bet a ballot initiative would pass with 65% in NJ.
probably. you might want to urge your legislators to put it on the ballot. Shouldn't come to that, putting people's rights on a ballot is shameful. Of course... but it can make a point. It could do more than that - It could change the law. Isn't that worth it? The resistance stems from the fact that a loss would kill any momentum for a long time.
