I like to think that I'm dependable, but I'm not. My solutions to my problems is to just ignore them until they come up, and then I half-ass it and hope for the best. It's caused some problems with my boyfriend in the past, but I know exactly what to say to make things better. We've been together for almost 7 years and sometimes I think the reason I "fix" it like that every time instead of just addressing the problem is because I'm afraid of what it's like to not be with someone.

General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Gov Martinez vetoes bill that would help gay vets, signs straight-only version

Salon articleThe Senate and House both passed nearly identical bills that would expedite the issuing of occupational and professional licenses to New Mexico veterans. The only difference was that the Senate version of the bill contained an amendment that would also cover same-sex domestic partners as well. Gov Martinez pocket vetoed the Senate version and signed the House version. She issued this statement: When military families and recent veterans move to New Mexico, we have to make it easier for them to support themselves and get to work. This legislation will end the burdensome process of requiring these already-licensed nurses, teachers, counselors, and other professionals to start over from the beginning when they are transferred to our state. I’m pleased that we are now removing this red tape and making it easier for our troops, veterans, and military spouses to get to work right away. ... unless you're gay. I'll keep the profanities to myself, but this is a very "mean spirited" woman and has exposed herself as not caring of all veterans, just some.

It's so difficult to answer this, especially for the older presidents, because it's difficult to imagine how they would even react to modern-day issues in a a modern-day society. Those that were in their prime in the 30's, 40's, and 50's probably didn't care for gays, to put it lightly. It was only very recently that acceptance towards gay people has become mainstream.

Even by the extremely cynical standards of the US Senate that was such an incredibly phony, insincere statement. While I applaud his flipflop, I can smell the stench of his bullsh!t all the way from Tennessee.
Have you read Casey's?
