General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / O'Donnell Endorses Hillary for 2012
|
on: December 02, 2010, 02:52:59 am
|
Christine O'Donnell: Hillary Clinton for President in 2012On ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, Christine O'Donnell threw her support to an unexpected - and seemingly uninterested - potential 2012 presidential candidate: Hillary Clinton.
"I hope she runs for President," O'Donnell told ABC's George Stephanopoulos, adding that she would even consider becoming a Democrat in order to have the opportunity to vote for her.
"I would love to see her take out Obama in the primary," O'Donnell said. "You know, I would even be tempted to change my registration so that I could vote for her in the Democratic primary."
The former Delaware Senate candidate emphasized that her hopes for a Clinton 2012 candidacy were derived not from the belief that the secretary of state would be easier for Republicans to beat than President Obama, but because she would make the better candidate.

General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Prominent Tea Party leader: Restricting Voting to Property Owners 'Makes Sense'

It certainly does make sense. Those who actually have a stake in a community should be the ones deciding what happens there.
Surprise, surprise. I encourage you to read patrick1 and PiT's posts in this thread to see the flaw in that line of thinking. Slumlords are not representative of true property owners and shouldn't exist in the first place. I don't see how the fact that lots of people got screwed by the banksters' controlled demolition of the economy and lost their homes is proof that these people didn't care about their communities.

Libertas, I respectfuly disagree with you. A prosecutor can only ethically do their job when they believe that the defendant has done a crime AND that they can prove it. Blue did not believe in either of those conditions. Thus he did the right thing. He offered to appoint a special prosecutor, also the right thing. This has happened a few times, even in front of the Supreme Court.
My favorite example of this is the case of the Hillside Strangler(s). The DA of LA brought charges. After some time, the DA believed that he could no longer prove the case and moved to dismiss. The Judge disagreed and refused to dismiss (within the right of the judge -- at least in Wisconsin and obviously California). The DA, not believing that the case could be ethically prosecuted, brought in the California AG, who felt differently, actually did some real good work, and successfully prosecuted the case.
Interesting side note -- the DA who started the case was elected AG, so when the case ended it was back in his office. More interesting, the Judge became DA.
The point of all this is a special prosecutor could have brought in. Blue gave you the option of naming one. Dallasfan, Han, would have been great to name just two I am sure you would have liked. I am sure there would have been others that would have been willing to take a look at the evidence and then determine if they could proceed based on those two conditions.
This is the only way the Justice system works. You may not like it in this case, but trust me, it is much better than having prosecutors that blindly prosecute people they do not believe committed crimes.
That was not the main issue here, despite Marokai's attempt to distract attention with it. The real issue is that the attorney general, the judge, and the defendant were all in bed together.

You actually post on other forums? Amazing. So why post here? I mean, you hate us and we hate you. Basically. I mean, there are other, better, forums out there, not run by evil racist Zionist bigot nazimonsters. I hear that they are even considerate when giving out infraction points, as you so rightly pointed out a couple of months ago. No, I am committed to casting the light of truth upon the darkness of ignorance is all too common on this forum. That racism has become the official policy of Atlas Forum is quite disturbing, but that only makes it all the more important that people are around to fight such a tendency. We held another vote on banning you recently. Well... recommending banning you. Margin is kind of lopsided. Thought you ought to know.
Well hey, governments want Julian Assange dead; moderators want me banned. Daring to expose the corruption, the nastiness, and the ineptitude of the "authorities" is always a risky proposition. But I won't back down in the face of intimidation. I am a rule-abiding poster; it is unfortunate that the mods here cannot play by the rules. Another poster recently compared the moderating team on this forum to the way 'justice' was administered in the old Deep South, and that seems a rather apt description. Forget the rule of law, if you look at a deputy the wrong way, your ass is lynched. Dave wrote the rules and created a system for their enforcement. Even with all the questionable infractions I've received, my record is still hardly exceptional given how over-reported my posts are. If I were such a chronic rule-breaker I would have been banned already. But my real problem is that I have been willing to openly criticize the unfair actions of the mods. That is why the mods are constantly plotting to get me banned.

There aren't many forums on which a topic with the title 'Zionist regime behind terror attacks in Iran' and featuring an article from IRNA would have not been deleted or at least locked Well if we're talking about forums run by racist bigot moderators, you have a point. I've used IRNA and other sources on many forums and never was a mod squad so brazen in its bigotry as to delete and lock threads for using a news source run by people of the wrong race and religion. Mind you, on most forums Libertas would have been give the old heave-ho ages ago.
We've been over this already. On other forums, bigots who tell people to "die in a fire" get banned, not made into moderators.

It can't be both.
I've been interested seeing the wide variety of opinions expressed by the far-right on this subject.
While I don't think Assange should be summarily executed, I do hope that this situation educates many of my fellow Republicans that there is a chunk of the tea-party movement that doesn't really care about America's national security.
Here's to hoping that segment grows and pushes the neocon infiltrators out of the tea party once and for all.

Why, that would defeat the point; this is intended to be a public service announcement for everyone. As Spade alluded to, everyone knows browns (especially Muslims) can't seriously run a news organization, so if you post their articles, it's "trolling".

Why haven't you been gassed, errr..., banned yet?
If its now against the rules to provide news from a perspective other than that of the Western mainstream media, an announcement should at least have been made. The bigotry of the forum moderators grows increasingly disturbing.
