About Me

I was born in September 1948, and spent my childhood years in Great Neck, New York. I graduated from Great Neck South High School in 1966 and entered the University of Kentucky that August. I majored in mathematics and completed the four-year Air Force ROTC program. I earned his commission, and graduated with a BS in May 1970, then entered graduate school, in educational delay status, and earned an MS in meteorology from Cornell University in August 1972. I began Air Force active duty in 1972, and spent my initial assignment of seven years at Air Force Global Weather Central (AFGWC). Following retirement from the USAF in 1993, I moved to AFGWC and spent 19 months as a Chief Forecaster in the Meteorological Products Branch. I later worked as a meteorologist in AFGWC's--now the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) Requirements Branch. I spent ten years as the chief of the Technology Exploitation Branch for AFWA. I led this branch through the explosive growth of visualizations of automated forecast charts to in excess of 250,000 per day, available over AFWA’s website. I also inspired the development and expansion of the interactive web tools, IMaST, and later IGrADS and WIDDS (https://weather.afwa.af.mil). In Nov, 2008, I became chief of requirements management for 2nd Weather Group.
