I don't know how you reached the conclusion that there would be an election. The seat would remain vacant.

Quote
In the event of a vacancy arising for whatever reason in a seat filled by Proportional Representation, a by-election shall be held on a nationwide basis in accordance with the terms outlined within the Consolidated Electoral System Reform Act (F.L. 14-2) and the Proportional Representation Act.

Assuming it can't be filled by the exceptions specified in Section 3 (which it can't), would this not apply?
If a vacancy shall occur in a Class B Senate seat more than twenty-one days before the regularly scheduled election for that seat, then a special election shall be called to fill the remainder of the vacated term within one week of the vacancy occurring; Special elections to the Senate shall begin within ten days of the vacancy occurring and shall begin between midnight Eastern Standard Time on a Thursday and 0001 Eastern Standard Time on the first Friday thereafter, and shall conclude exactly 72 hours after beginning.

We really need to save the cache versions before they are lost forever. It would be a damn shame if that happened.

Please please ease

I plan to vote against this because I don't see a serious problem with the current system and I don't think this bill will do anything more than give landlords and megacorps more power. Generally things like this are the domain of the community because it affects those beyond the individual landowner
How will this bill benefit mega-corporations? I could understand saying that getting rid of maximum lot size ordinances would benefit them but I already amended the bill to take that part out.

As for landlords, I assume you're referring to Section 1, Subsection a? I've already provided evidence that rent control a harmful policy that leads to housing shortages.

I'm not very comfortable with D or F either. It would suck if DC was in our region and we set out to do this. Capitalism would destroy the city's character.
I already amended the bill to get rid of Subsection F. How would Subsection D destroy DC?

DC has height restrictions to prevent Manhattan style skyscrapers from crowding the city.  I agree with sirnick to an extent that communities should be able to establish certain rules and regulations. Is rent control your main issue?

Thanks, y'all!

Does voting for NOTA in any preference mean NOTA is the vote? I think that's what I remember.

Yes, this was my interpretation as well.

I don't remember that..

The Left Front hereby endorses JCL, a devoted socialist and ally of the Atlasian working class.

I see the Vanity Front is a leninist outfit. Endorsing the reactionary to bring the revolution?

Only a reactionary would accuse someone on the other side of the political spectrum of being a reactionary. Funny thing is I've never accused you of being one and will never do so.

The bill as written is marginally effective at best. See clause 1. It prohibits the Assembly from passing a certain type of law. That doesn't really work.

25  Forum Community / Forum Community / Re: do you dread going to work? on: April 20, 2014, 02:33:17 am
Yes (normal)

Unless you have full control over what you do and when you do it, I don't know how it's possible for any sane human being to enjoy being yelled at to perform an almost assuredly meaningless task for eight hours a day.

That explains a lot. Tongue

I find my job fulfilling, though I am not a hard worker by any definition. Bonus points for the access to good looking and creative women.

Have you considered switching your occupation?

I'm in the midst of a job search, and hopefully by summer there will be more spots open in my chosen field (education), which would be great because that would at least be a job in which I would have a much larger degree of autonomy than I do now as a wage-slave in a hamburger sweatshop.

For some reason I thought you had a union job. I wish you luck in your job search. What is your desired profession?
