101  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Labor Party Standing Committee thread on: April 23, 2012, 10:21:21 am
Welp, looks like even less votes than we thought are actually being counted in this election. 68 votes, folks. 51% of Atlasians voted. That's half of all registered voters. My vote wasn't even counted because of some outdated requirement at a time when we should be trying to include, not exclude, and encourage as many votes as we can. If we don't start pushing some serious efforts to change as soon as possible, Atlasia as we know it will die. If it comes to that, I won't hesitate to support revolution.

I'm not going back to regional politics. Senate or bust.
You were robbed, Snowy.
But don't give up, this was just a bad month for the left. Poor organization and low activity all around. Run for Senate in June! Stay active in the Northeast as I try to push reforms. :<
103  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Labor Party Standing Committee thread on: April 22, 2012, 08:56:19 pm
Of course Labor members should vote for Labor members but between Tweed and Napoleon I feel like there's the potential for a major Labor Left-Labor Right split that I'd really like to avoid.
Absolutely. The left already has three candidates, and there's sure to be one or two more at this rate. If the right were to unite behind one well known user, they could blow us away. I'm afraid that this Senate election might be foreshadowing June.

I've yet to decide on a single candidate to support and/or endorse as I like bits and pieces of everyone's platform. After a few weeks, I suppose I'll stick with a single candidate.

Sounds like an excellent slogan, Nathan Smiley

On an unrelated note, since the inaugural convention has been over with for some time now, do you all think we should re-name this thread as our headquarters, or start a new one? Or does it not matter..

I lost it at the third point.
108  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Labor Party Inaugural Convention: Platform discussion on: April 18, 2012, 04:45:26 pm
Yeeah, um..
Even if some of us consider our party composed of "real left wingers" because our political ideology is a bit different than that of the Liberal Party, such a slogan would divide and confuse the fine workers of Atlasia to an unnecessary level, when there are much bigger issues which could be addressed in a slogan. Not to mention, such an action grants legitimacy to other, more unified groups which all of us would like to see defeated.

We'll be laughing pretty hard at this poll in a few years, I'm sure.
Interesting, though quite expected, that Cuomo would lead if Clinton and Biden declined.
I guess time will tell if this poll is telling of the future in any context.

111  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Where will the Santorum Supporters flock to now? on: April 10, 2012, 01:34:37 pm
Good question. If this was a month or two ago, I'd say Gingrich, easily. But with the changing political landscape, I think Romney will win the majority of his supporters simply because of his inevitability and delegate numbers.

Good. I'm tired of seeing this asshole everywhere.
This scumbag didn't deserve a shred of the attention he's been getting.

Though I'm afraid he'll be a player in 2016.

114  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Which Potential Independent Candidate Could Take Support Away From Obama? on: April 07, 2012, 02:22:48 am
There's not much point in running a campaign to the left of Obama when the GOP is practically a lock to retain the House and is favored to retake the Senate.
Yeaah, we'll see about that.
115  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Veepstakes: Who You Think Are the Two Most Likely Running Mates... on: April 06, 2012, 02:01:20 pm
If Romney wants to actually get elected, picking a VP that won't 'overshadow' him can't be his top concern. The fact of it is, is that more people will want to vote for Romney if Rubio or Christie is his running mate than Portman. Republicans are already unenthusiastic enough about their inevitable candidate, might as well give him a VP to increase turnout.
116  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Has Santorum said more blatantly false things than any other recent candidate? on: April 06, 2012, 01:53:53 pm
I think Bachmann told more blatant lies than Santorum, but out of candidates who are still in the race, it's a close call between Romney and Frothy. Not that any of our candidates are exempt from lying, but geez. This particular election cycle is pretty bad.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/23/huntsman-calls-for-third-party-the-system-is-broken/

Now, he doesn't seem interested in running for a third party like Roemer did, but this is very interesting coming from a plausible future GOP contender.

"...someone is going to step up at some point and say 'we have had enough of this, the real issues are not being addressed'"
120  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Half of US thinks Obama too Liberal on: February 23, 2012, 11:57:16 pm
Obama is a center-right president in his actions judging from any standpoint.
Rhetoric is perhaps moderate in world politics, center-left in America's assbackwards system.

It doesn't matter. He's nearly identical to Romney in actions anyway.
121  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Roemer leaves GOP; will seek Reform Party nomination on: February 22, 2012, 09:03:55 pm
As with Huntsman, the Republican field is far too crazy to include such an intelligent person.
I hope he does well if he becomes the Reform Party's nominee.
