As a new citizen of the Midwest and Senate candidate, I hope to be that Senator! My campaign is focused on creating a more just and fair society in Atlasia, one that respects the right of working people to have more of a say in their day to day affairs, strengthens our protections of those working people, and makes day to day life all the better. I hope I can have your support, fellow Midwesterners!

We are of totally different parties and totally different ideologies, but you seem dedicated and willing to work for the Midwest, and are a much stronger fit than I for he region, so I will be running for re-election and will endorse you in your run.
Thank you, TNF. I've yet to make my full announcement, but be confident that you have my support.
Thank you both for your kind words and your support. As I have said before, I believe that doing the best for Atlasia means reaching out across party lines and working together. We may disagree on principle at times, but we can always agree to stand together to make our regions and our game a better place. Thank you for your endorsement Maxwell, and thank you for your support, Snowstalker.

Or, well, today. In lieu of Senator Snowstalker, a good friend of mine, retiring and my move to Wyoming of all places, I would like to be the first out of the gate to declare myself a candidate for the Senate to replace Snowstalker. I admit that I am new to the Midwest, but that I believe that I can represent Midwestern citizens in Nyman and I pledge myself to work towards the establishment of a Fair Society for all Atlasians, be they Midwesterners, Mideasterners, Southeasterners, Pacificans, or Northeasterners. My platform will be released in the coming days, and it shall, for the most part piggyback off of the things I proposed doing at the regional level in the Mideast, but made bigger and better at the federal level. Thank you all for your support in my last race, and I would love to have that support returned in kind for another race, this time for the Senate in the Midwest! General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: How many states will SSM be legal in in 2016?

Either 1 or 5.
This assumes Sestak wins in Pennsylvania next year, but I don't think that's too far fetched of an assumption to make. Corbett is, surprisingly, one of the weakest Republican Governors out there. This map also kind of assumes Snyder and Walker win re-election, as does Christie, which leaves New Jersey the only state in the Northeast that discriminates against same-sex couples in marriage rights as of 2016. I also threw California in here because I figure the Supreme Court will ultimately just strike down the California ban and leave the rest of it in place, along with striking down the Defense of Marriage Act, which would, in theory, legalize same-sex marriage everywhere, but in practice almost assuredly won't because reactionaries control much of the United States' state and local legislatures.

FF, but still a disappointment compared to his dad. Ron Paul is the ultimate FF, and perhaps the most respected of Politicos in my book.
Ron Paul is only the 'ultimate FF' if you're a rich white dude.

The votes are still rolling in, but I would like to reach out and thank everyone who backed me in this election, win or lose. You've all helped me to run a campaign that I think has been issues-based and avoided the pettiness that usually accompanies our politics. I also want to encourage you to vote for ComradeKitteh for Governor tonight - she will be a valuable and responsible leader in a region that needs strong leadership going forward to fight the fights that Mideastern workers cannot fight alone.
