2  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: "official" Vice President leaks, tips, and speculation thread (GOP edition) on: August 29, 2008, 07:14:04 am
I don't think Palin would be the best choice for McCain but I would have a much easier time voting for McCain/Palin than I would McCain/Romney
3  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: name a wild card pick on: August 22, 2008, 11:35:23 am
Here's a complete wild card--Tom Brokaw

huh

It's a wild card pick, but I could see it happening.  He's very well-respected, younger than McCain and knowledgeable on issues.  He was mentioned as a possible running mate for Kerry in 2004.
4  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Rumors on the internets that McCain has chosen Romney on: August 22, 2008, 12:04:18 am
This would be about the only way where I would consider not voting for McCain.
5  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Do you expect the name to leak Thursday? on: August 21, 2008, 12:06:40 am
How do you sign up for the text alert/is it free/do I get put into some sort of Obama list I don't want to be on?

Oh, you will DEFINITELY get put on an Obama list you don't want to be a part of.

By the way, if it hasn't been said yet, I can almost guarantee you'll hear it somewhere else before you get the official text.

I think it'll be cool to wake up tomorrow morning and not even turn on my TV or computer and see who it is and the way its phrased
6  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Who would you vote for? / Who will win? on: August 20, 2008, 11:59:14 pm
McCain/Obama

I also very, very, very much agree with True Democrat's reasoning.  I didn't know anyone else felt the same way I did.
7  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Do you expect the name to leak Thursday? on: August 20, 2008, 11:03:58 pm
Thanks-it says I am now a part of "Obama Mobile", lucky me?

Blanche Lincoln -- she's Hillary Clinton without the Hillary Clinton baggage

Here's a complete wild card--Tom Brokaw
10  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Rep. Tubbs-Jones (D-OH) on life support; not expected to recover on: August 20, 2008, 11:37:57 am
Terrible news

Let's hope and pray for a recovery.

I'm not a big fan of her politics but I wish her the best
11  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: The Official FINAL Predict-a-VP Thread (Obama Edition) on: August 20, 2008, 01:16:51 am
I think it'll be Bayh, but just to be different I'll register Wes Clark as my official opinion.
12  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Gubernatorial/Statewide Elections / Re: Gerlach finally considers statewide run in 2010. on: August 19, 2008, 11:26:39 pm
I don't think Gerlach should do anything besides run for PA-6, I can't really see him having that much appeal statewide.

His ideology would be just fine.

I guess he does parallel Ridge a bit, but 1994 will probably be a much better year for the GOP than 2010 was and Gerlach can barely hold onto his house seat whereas Ridge did quite well for himself there, if memory serves.
13  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Mark Halperin "almost certain" it will be Romney on: August 19, 2008, 11:20:32 pm
from nytimes.com

Quote
A person associated with Mr. Romney said Tuesday that he had detected no strong interest from the McCain campaign in recent weeks.

That's good news -- McCain needs someone a lot more interesting (which Romney might have been if he didn't run for President)

If his district gets badly gerrymandered in 2010, I think it might be best for him to retire gracefully and go into the private sector.  It's a shame to lose such a good politician, but there's not much he can do about it and I'm glad he's lasted this long.
15  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Who will do better in the third parties? on: August 19, 2008, 11:02:47 pm
Bob Barr--he's somewhat of a famous figure and Nader is waay old news.  I'll say 0.5%-0.2%
16  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Mark Halperin "almost certain" it will be Romney on: August 19, 2008, 10:55:44 pm
I'd have a lot of trouble voting for any ticket with Romney on it.  He is quite the horrible person.
17  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: What % chance is there that Obama doesn't pick Bayh, Biden or Kaine? on: August 19, 2008, 09:41:04 pm
I'll say about 40%.  I don't think Bayh would be that bad of a pick, he's safe and doesn't destroy foreign policy credentials.  Overall, I think Blanche Lincoln would be the best choice, I don't know why she's never been mentioned at all.
18  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Would a McCain VS Hillary election change you were supporting? on: August 17, 2008, 10:30:55 pm
I would be more likely to vote Democratic, but still vote for McCain.
19  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: North Texas school district will let teachers carry guns on: August 17, 2008, 10:26:46 pm
This is a great move, especially since the teachers would be highly screened beforehand.
20  Election Archive / 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Campaign / Re: What will be the closest state this year, part II on: August 17, 2008, 10:13:31 pm
Gotta say Virginia--it seems like it'll go right down to the wire.  New Mexico may be determined by less votes though.
21  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Is Rudy Giuliani done? on: December 26, 2007, 12:02:07 am
I think it's time to stick a fork in him.
22  Election Archive / 2008 Elections / Re: Predict Iowa for the Democrats on: December 25, 2007, 11:57:39 pm
1-Hillary 29
2-Edwards 28
3-Obama 25
Others 18
23  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: VA-01 Results on: December 11, 2007, 11:37:27 pm
Oh well.  At least Forgit won my precinct by 20 points and the W&M precinct by 40 points.

25  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Atlas Forum Fantasy League - 2007 on: December 11, 2007, 12:43:49 pm
Congratulations, Sam.  It was fun.

I don't know if we need AVG and OBP/W and L...they seem to be kind of repetitive.
