1  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / One more thing to consider..... on: September 03, 2015, 08:23:19 am
Perhaps altering the way we do our elections would be one way to go.... many local elections have two rounds- a first round and a runoff
Every one votes for ONE candidate...if no candidate gets 50% + 1,the top two vote getters go into a run-off election....perhaps scheduled for two weeks later....

I believe there is a chance this would make elections more interesting, but either way- figured it was an idea worth proposing....

Any thoughts?

Some people will be bashing me for not having been around for some time...... they are CORRECT.... I have not been here to supervise the destruction of this board,I have not led during the decline of Atlasia, I was a leader here in its heyday- the good ole days...

I, for one, would NOT be proud to have been an elected leader during the past few months when things have gone down the toilet! I am proud to offer a mix- as my friends Winfield and Leinad have said- between experience and a "fresh face"
I'd like to repeat this because it is relevent to a debate taking place on another thread....

I also would like to firmly criticize the apologists for our current President... perhaps he is a good guy,but he has been an absolute disaster for this game. I came back to find it in shambles and he has overseen this decline- he must go and Atlasia deserves a leader who speaks the truth, not covering up for his buddy
4  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Mock Parliament Diplomacy on: September 02, 2015, 09:34:15 am
Personally- I have no problem with engaging in diplomacy with them.... a simultaneous office holding ban would be absolutely destructive...I also agree that the anti Atlasia sentiment runs deep there which is one reason I am not nearly as active over there as I originally planned to be- though also my party won no seats in their parliament so I do not have much room there to even engage

I think everybody just needs to chill the hell out on this one. Cabinet positions have been hard to fill for ages. It seems like for a year or more, we've had at least one cabinet vacancy at any given time. It turns out that people increasingly don't want to make up stories only for the public to scream foul, or carry out day-to-day activities that result in impeachment.

The fact is that we've lost over two dozen citizens in the past couple of months - many of whom were among the active base of the game. It wouldn't surprise me if we have lost a majority of our active players. With that dynamic comes a difficulty in which it is downright impossible to adequately fill all seats with people who are going to give it their best. I'm particularly disappointed in my presidential opponent on this one, who, after entering the game following a long hiatus, has failed to do the proper research into why the game is in such shoddy shape, and take that into account.

This is precisely why I am running for President. We already see all of the side-shows and rampant accusations/witch-hunts over little, trivial things that take our eyes off the bigger prize, as I've warned everybody about already. This ConCon and the reformation of our game in the coming months will be my primary focus as President. We cannot let forget what matters most to the long-term health and survival of the game. Fixing our broken system is much more important than vacant cabinet positions, especially when most haven't been paying attention to their actions (except of course, when they "screw up") for ages.
Perhaps I should state this again....
I am PROUD not to have led this game in this period of decline and demise....you have been a leader,Kalwejt has been a leader, Bore has been a leader, Lumine has been a leader- all of you are good folks, but you must take your share of responsibility for what has happened. Leaders take responsibility- that is what they do....

You are the RG of this game, and from what I understand- you have done a fine job... but it remains that you are in an important leadership role when people have been leaving by the masses... I appreciate that you are now running for President, but we needed some one like you in office months or years ago,not now...

If my having a hiatus (during which- by the way- I had a heap load of fun in my "real life" and I will not apologize for that!) is some thing you choose to point out, it is a badge of honor I will proudly wear! I have NOT been a leader who has overseen the worst decline in Atlasia's history and the more you choose to make of it, the better....we need CHANGE from the STATUS QUO because the status quo is not working...

And one more thing- those of you who are defending President Bore (who I am sure is a fine person) are defending the WORST president I have seen in my time here....and I bet most others would agree with me on that. I respect you,Griff, but part of the reason I respect you is because I believed you are the kind of guy who would call it like it is....call a spade a spade. I want you to acknowledge- at the very least- that Bore's Presidency has overseen this game's worst period

Back years ago... these jobs were competitive- If I remember correctly
I believe that it is up to the President to set the tone.....and if he is not willing to create an environment where these jobs are desirable,he has got to go

I'm as dissatisfied with Bore's performance as anyone, but to place the blame for the current predicament on the shoulders of one man is inaccurate and, frankly, cheap politics. The roots of this crisis go much, much deeper than the failings of a single president, and while the powers of that office are indeed vast, it is unrealistic to expect him to turn the tide on months worth of inactivity and apathy on his own. Saying otherwise is dangerous, because it ignores the real systematic problems facing Atlasia in favor of a simplistic solution.

It is more complicated than that. Again, I stress that I don't underestimate the challenge that the president faces at all times, let alone at a time like this.

My concern was the apparent lack of concern or engagement by the President on this issue. I felt the concerns of the Senate needed to be conveyed directly to the President. I hope that those who are so fervent in their support and dedication to Atlasia put their hands up, even if it means leaving an elected position.
That is why I am running for President..... and why I have accepted Leinad's appointment for Southern Legislator... we need people to STAND UP and LEAD!

He is not the only problem..... but what has he done to fix it?? You accusing me of cheap politics is cheap politics on your behalf..... an economic recession is not a president's fault entirely, but the one who oversees it should still be held accountable. Bore has overseen the demise of Atlasia- he MUST be held accountable

It appears Donald Trump's main competition in the top tier is Ben Carson, so obviously yes.

All other candidates will continue to fail to gain traction.
Correct....
Trump will be the nominee,sadly- but will not be sad when Hillary mops the floor with him...

Harry, what are your thoughts on Missouri/Arkansas/Tennessee? I don't believe in any of them.

Tennessee is the most baffling of all -- they have been mediocre for years. Just because they finally reached 6-6 last year after being out of bowls for 3 years doesn't exactly scream "This team should be ranked now!" Yes, Josh Dobbs looks to be a good QB (although with small sample size), and Butch Jones was successful at Central Michigan and Cincinnati, but I think 8-4 is an optimistic projection for them.

Arkansas --  Arkansas was very impressive down the stretch, playing Mississippi State down to the final play on the road, then shutting out LSU and absolutely thrashing Ole Miss. Losing their starting RB for the year will hurt, but I think they've finally established their identity as the baddest, most brutal physical team in America on both sides of the ball. I believe they lost a lot of their defense though, so they're a question mark. I wouldn't be shocked if they came in last in the West (even though I think they're a good team), just because the SEC West is so tough from top to bottom.

Missouri -- who knows. I never dreamed they'd win the SEC East in 2013 or 2014, so why pick against them this year? The East is mediocre enough that it could easily be won by a not-very-good team. In fact, you could make a case (of course, we'll see if it actually happens) that the SEC 1-7 teams are in the West and 8-14 are in the West. At the very least, Georgia + the West should be 1-8.

While we're on the subject, allow me to whine about the lack of respect Mississippi State is getting. Our greatest player in school history (Dak Prescott) is back. We have the best WRs we've ever had. We lost 3 seniors on the offensive line ... but they were undrafted 2-star guys, and we're replacing them with more highly-recruited players who will be drafted. Yes, losing that experience is going to be tough (two of them were 4-year starters), but it's a lot easier to replace undrafted starters than it is to replace high draft picks. I think it's totally reasonable to say that 2015 will be the best offense in Mississippi State history (beating out 2014, which beat 2013, which beat 2012).

Defensively we also lost a lot of starters, but last year we let seniors "start" and the better underclassmen "not start" but play most snaps. DT Chris Jones and CB Will Redmond have been projected as first round picks in 2016, but they technically didn't start last year, so they don't count as returning starters. I think people look at the numbers and assume "Oh, well Mississippi State lost 7 starters on defense and obviously Mississippi State couldn't have better players starting in their stead this year," when actually we will be doing exactly that at several positions.

Oh well. I may look like an overly-optimistic fool next week, but have faith in Dak Prescott to lead us to the promised land. We play LSU on September 12, and both fanbases are 100% sure of a win. One of us is going to get a rough dose of reality that day, and I sure hope it's not us.
You could NOT be more right......
#1 for a large chunk of the year last year.... and now not ranked?? With a returning QB of Dak's caliber?? Sounds like bull sh**t to me....

We're not trying to drive Bore out. If anything, we're doing everything to give him both time and chance. Otherwise we would've started impeachment proceedings long, long ago.

Like Polnut said, I've supported him twice and we've worked together closely, and driving him out is the last thing I want. But he needs to take some initiative. The fact some people doesn't seem to realize what's wrong with the situation is indeed troubling.
When some one does not do his job,he should resign- as simple as that..... I come back to this place and it is a garbage dump....UNDER HIS WATCH!

And for all those who are bashing the new people here..... people like Leinad and Classic Conservative and others who are dedicated to Atlasia are the SOLUTION,not the problem!

22  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: CLARENCE 2015...Make Atlasia Great Again! on: August 31, 2015, 09:29:51 am
I have three words for you......

CHANGE, PASSION, AND POLICY!

Change
It is clear that we need some structural changes here...... my esteemed opponent Mr. Griff has proposed consolidating to three regions- that number sounds fine to me,but am willing to consider four if we were to have a surge of activity- which I will get to later on-

The Constitutional Convention will be a crucial time for us....I believe it would be inappropriate for me to want to dictate the ongoings as a potential President.... so my views here are mine as a citizen, not meant in an effort to override any one else's views. I have one vote if I am a delegate- and one voice if I am not- so take these views for that they are worth....

I believe we need a system RESET- I believe the Constitutional Convention must represent a new start to Atlasia....we are too bogged down in laws that are impossible to keep track of- when maintaining a Wikipedia becomes a primary goal of govt,we know that we have become too big to manage...We need to START OVER- that means, no elected officials, no passed laws, a new structure, etc, etc etc,..... I am ok with the presiding officer of the Constitutional Convention serving as Interim President and homelycooking staying in his role to help guide this transition

I believe more people will be interersted in a game if they are able to enter at the GROUND FLOOR... and have an influence of events which can shape the entire game rather then making a very small difference that is barely noticed. Give people a chance to be the first holder of an office in this new Atlasia and- trust me- it will be great again....

Passion

I do not know the man,so I do not want to get too personal here- but BORE MUST GO.....the lack of PASSION he brings to the Presidency is far too low... as Trump would call Bush "a low energy person".    I am a "high energy person"- I love this game and I will bring passion and activity... I will do actions every day and will give the people some thing to talk about

Leadership trickles down..... what starts at the top will spread every where. We have a weak,do-nothing leader in charge right now,and that is causing this game to die.........I will NOT be that leader- I will be a leader who revs the engine from Day 1 and then gets the wheels spinning. I bring passion to Atlasia and it will Make Atlasia Great Again

Policy
The #1 problem with Atlasia right now is that the focus is not on what it should be......policy. The first time I ran for President (the second time, health forced me out before debates) I had very serious debates about policy with Napoleon and Oakvale and other candidates.....we need to focus on policy. I admire people such as Governor Leinad for proposing policies and encouraging debate and discussion on them....

Who wants to join a game only to discuss the rules of the game?? Once we are thru with the Constitutional Convention- and even before and during- we MUST make this game about the issues again....

What issues you may ask?? THAT is what I will be rolling out over the course of this campaign! And I guarantee- it will give you all some thing to talk about......

In conclusion, I want to bring CHANGE, PASSION, and POLICY back to Atlasia and I will do these as President....I will be an active leader who will use my experience in this game and in life to guide us thru these tough times.... THAT is my promise to you!
