1  General Discussion / Religion & Philosophy / Re: Protestants and Catholics: Who are more right-wing (in the US) on average? on: May 22, 2012, 01:52:32 pm
The irony of this question is the fact that in Germany (and in the whole of Europe) the Catholics are way more conservative than the Protestants.
2  Questions and Answers / The Atlas / Re: Which of the following should be bannable offenses? on: May 22, 2012, 12:47:09 pm
Holocaust denial
Racist slurs
Homophobic slurs
Slurs against any particular religion (such as "Jews control the world!!!!" or "All Muslims hate America!!!!")
Advocating mass murder or genocide
Threatening another poster with violence
Petty insults ("You're a ****ing moron!")
Posting pornography
Spamming/Flooding
Having one or more sock accounts
Posting graphic images such as those of Gaddafi just before he was killed
Re-posting memes from other websites

Only offenses against the GTC should lead to a dissolution of contract.

Having one or more sock accounts is not a contradiction of the GTC, particularly if you falsely consider accounts created after a(n unjustified) banning as "socks".

Period!

4  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Kentucky Democratic Primary 2012 on: May 22, 2012, 11:10:39 am
"LOUISVILLE" The largest city in KY, with a population close to 1 million the city is very democratic. The Governor is a democrat also. Got most of this info from wiki

Obama should get atleast 70%

West Virginia has a Democratic governor, two Democratic US senators, both Upper and Lower House have a Democratic majority, and nevertheless Obama de facto lost against a nonfamous inmate.

He should be happy, if he wins the Kentucky primary tonight.
5  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Make up a REALISTIC 269-269 map of Obama vs. Romney on: May 22, 2012, 09:11:48 am
I can't decide if Virginia or Ohio is more likely to go Romney. Most the maps here hinge on one or the other going Romney...

Virginia has clearly become a steadily blue swing state, like Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Ohio is actually red state that at times votes blue by accident.
6  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Arkansas: a tossup? on: May 22, 2012, 04:12:54 am
I personally think Wolfe will win 51% - 49%.

If that happens, it's hard to see how Obama gets renominated.  LBJ beat McCarthy in NH in '68 and had to leave the race.

The difference between LBJ and BHO is:
The latter has already won 90% of the delegates.

PS: Is WhyteRain a troll?

At least no one thinks Obama is capable of losing Kentucky...
8  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Electoral College tie on: May 22, 2012, 04:02:58 am
If it comes to an Electoral College tie, the election for President is decided in the House of Representatives and the election for Vice President is decided in the Senate.

(This topic takes up my other thread Make up a REALISTIC 269-269 map of Obama vs. Romney.

In a perfect world all people would have that work ethic.

In a perfect world all people were enabled to translate their potential work ethics into action.

16  General Politics / Political Geography & Demographics / Rhode Island's electoral votes on: May 19, 2012, 02:51:00 pm
Rhode Island is the least populous state with 4 EV, the difference between RI's and Montana's population figures is only about 50,000 and RI is only one of two states that have continuously been losing inhabitants since 2005.
17  Questions and Answers / The Atlas / Re: TO DAVE - Regarding polls with multiple answers... on: May 19, 2012, 10:24:02 am
Something I've always found annoying is that the results are shown as % of the votes cast instead of as % of the voters. This really makes no sense since, if you have multiple answers, it's precisely in order to give people the possibility for a vote to be counted two times. It also always makes the results charts completely flat and annoying to read. Can this be fixed ?

!!!
18  Questions and Answers / The Atlas / Re: Washington D.C. on: May 19, 2012, 10:22:14 am
The DC official results include blanks (under votes) in their percentage tally.  As a standard, the atlas does not include the blanks as part of the vote percentage.

Thanks,
Dave

To be honest, that would be unfair on those users who predicted a 60% win for Romney, especially given that close run in D.C.

Thanks,
golden

24  Questions and Answers / The Atlas / Washington D.C. on: May 17, 2012, 11:01:54 am
What are the official results of the District of Columbia Republican primary?

This atlas says Mitt won 70.08% of the popular vote.
The Green Papers and Wikipedia, however, say he won with 68.04%.

Which number is correct?
25  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Houston Mayor Annise Parker on: May 17, 2012, 10:38:36 am

I believe Houston Mayor has a limit of 3 or 4 terms.

3 terms according to Wikipedia.
