27  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / 2011 Census Maps (England and Wales) on: November 30, 2012, 07:07:24 am
I've posted this as a placeholder, so that I can write a more substantial introduction to this thread.. For now here's some age group maps by Local Authorities in England and Wales..
28  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Police Commisioner Elections : November 2012 on: November 17, 2012, 01:24:51 pm
Sussex results are reported by Local Authority (via the Brighton & Hove City Council website). Does anyone know of any others doing so? If so I can make a map..

I'm gathering that data as we speak (currently up to 84 out of 315). When I have all 315 I shall be more than happy to send it to you.

Thanks Harry yes please do - and I'll be more than happy to produce a map! I believe you have my email address from before but if not I'll PM it to you.

31  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Corby by-election on: November 16, 2012, 07:28:04 am
If current polls are right, I would say a Labour majority of 15%

Is this the same Rural Radical of Forum past? Welcome back!
32  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Police Commisioner Elections : November 2012 on: November 15, 2012, 06:15:08 pm
There were two other voters when I spoiled my ballot at my polling station at 6pm. I should mention this is in a high turnout area..
33  Forum Community / Off-topic Board / Re: Opinion of Northern Minnesota? on: November 12, 2012, 09:33:22 am
I've recently befriended a girl from there (in real life!!) so there's the prospect that I might visit there someday. Which is fortunate, as this was somewhere I'd already thought I'd like to visit anyway.
34  Forum Community / Off-topic Board / Re: Are you partaking in No Shave November? on: November 12, 2012, 09:01:20 am
I'm taking part in 'Movember' which is sort of the UK equivalent..  http://uk.movember.com/

My 'moustache' is looking rather ratty so far..
35  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Politico: Obama will have no mandate because he will lose white men! on: November 06, 2012, 07:20:21 am
Obama isn't going to win, but if he did win while losing the majority of white men he wouldn't have a "mandate". The reason being that white men are the most powerful and productive demographic in America. They pay the majority of taxes, are the majority of business owners/politicians/important media figures/soldiers, and have overwhelming hegemony in a vast number of states.

So yeah, no mandate unless you win the most powerful demographic group.

Seriously, what the f***...

What everybody opinion on Eugene Debs?.

38  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Obama ad compares losing virginity to voting on: October 31, 2012, 09:01:30 am
I believe the 'Young Socialist Party of Catalonia' or someone or other produced an ad which went much further (to the point where a young woman has an orgasm through placing her ballot in the box..) I'm not going to search for it now as its sorta NSFW and I'm on my lunch break at W.
39  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Can Anybody explain why they are convinced Obama is going to be re-elected. on: October 31, 2012, 08:53:05 am
Arithmetic and Ohio, is not a solid argument; example say you don't have the arithmetic on your side; then remove Ohio from the equation and then offer a reason why Obama should be "rewarded"; the mere fact you came up with numbers and Ohio, would suggest you don't have faith in Obama's cause or any of his arguments

What's to say that anybody who says Obama is likely to be re-elected based on polling has to have faith in Obama's cause or any of his arguments?  Especially given that you asked people why they think Obama is going to re-elected, as opposed to why he should be re-elected..

This thread is predicated on fail..
40  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Leaked FL GOP Memo: Democratic turnout machine is cleaning our clock on: October 31, 2012, 08:43:16 am
Ha. Someone makes something up and some less intelligent folks lap it up hard. Aww.

Yes, Romney's debate performances were spectacular.  What's your point?

If the context wasn't lacking this would belong in the Comedy Goldmine.

The difference in the Electoral College performance between Obama and Romney in the U.S. Presidental Polls map on the front page of this website. And not much else, to be honest..
42  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Meat Loaf - another not-helpful endorsement for Mitt Romney on: October 29, 2012, 06:28:32 am

43  Election Archive / 2012 Senatorial Election Polls / Re: NE: Kerrey internal poll shows a deadheat on: October 29, 2012, 06:10:02 am
'deadheat' being an appropriate word as it includes 'dead'.

I know you're trying to make a funny pun here, but you're just reaching now

The same way Kerrey reached for his pistol in Saigon and mowed down an entire orphanage of children.

This made me snigger
44  General Politics / International General Discussion / Re: UK General Discussion on: October 26, 2012, 07:15:03 am
Do we think it would be appropriate to set up a North Croydon by-election thread yet? The reason I ask is that I've just found out that Labour have drawn up a shortlist of 5 candidates (from a Facebook post by one of them).

This is the best thing Obama has ever done
46  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Swedish Election Results with Google Street View and maps on: October 25, 2012, 06:41:46 am
This is really interesting.  I like the use of linking to Google streetview, very innovative method for making electoral geography feel more 'real.'  It's funny how the places kind of look how I'd expected them to, despite having very little knowledge of Sweden as a place..
47  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Romney enlists over 300 Generals on: October 19, 2012, 05:51:58 am
What, is he planning some kind of coup if he doesn't win??
48  Election Archive / 2012 Elections / Re: Is it possible to be "cool" and support Mitt Romney? on: October 17, 2012, 03:58:39 am

49  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / International Elections / Re: Police Commisioner Elections : November 2012 on: October 11, 2012, 10:33:41 am
Does anyone have any idea what the most detailed geographical breakdown we may be able to get of the results will be?
