realisticidealist did a great job in managing to make all of these equally horrible. Good job.

Though trans people wouldn't be part of the elite in hyperfeminismland, in fact they'd probably have a status similar to gays in radical Islamist countries.

That depends on the type of feminism. Trans-exclusive radical feminism is the most likely possibility as a framework for the rest of what's described, but not necessarily the only one.

This is a problem with the OP; hyperfeminismland is a weird mix of different types of feminism. RI essentially mixed the stuff you would hear at a lesbian separatist meeting in 1973 and on a social justice tumblr in 2013. Obviously those two would have very different views of trans people, among other things.

Slightly OT, but this paranoia about "OMG STRANGERS AROUND TEH CHILDRENZ!!!1!" is really overdone. Statistically, it's far more likely that these children are being abused by their own parents than by some other person like Bushie. The idea that no adult male should ever be around children who aren't his is ridiculous.

Is there a word for those who prefer trans partners?

A generic, neutral term? No. Typically among trans people the slang for men who prefer trans women as partners is "tranny chaser" or just "chaser", but that's a pejorative, definitely not something anyone would describe themselves as. Also, that could be considered offensive if used by a cis person; "tranny" is sort of like "n****r" in the sense that it is acceptable only if trans people say it (even then, it's not commonly used except when describing other situations where it is used pejoratively towards trans people, i.e. "tranny porn").

I believe someone on tumblr invented a word for attraction specifically to people who don't identify as male or female; Google-fu tells me the term is "skoliosexual". Still, that's one of those tumblrisms that's only used by a very tiny group of people on the internet and by nobody in real life. Plus it's not really attraction to trans people in general, just a specific subset of them.

So no, not really a general term that I know of.

I had a discussion about this exact issue with someone over Taco Bell while high Saturday night. I don't remember exactly what was said, but I do remember we discussed whether a horseshoe or a broken circle is a better metaphor.

Very interesting dr101 - I think if you compare our scores, which are very, very close, and our maps, which are quite different, it is reasonable to make the assumption that your single 'dead on' guess made up for your several 'way off' guesses - in contrast to mine, earning a similar score for three 'near misses' and two moderately off guesses.  So, I think we can say that you get a very fat score total for a 'hole-in-one'?

Yep. Actually, I took it a second time, and did slightly better, with a different pattern.

Here are the results from the second time. The first time was clearly Polish; I had no idea where in Poland so I guessed roughly in the middle of the country and did pretty good. The second looked Appalachian but was actually the UP of Michigan; that was fairly bad. The third had French lettering, and one of the store signs said "Isere". IIRC that is a region in France, and so I made my best guess of where I thought it was and turned out to be close. The fourth I got lucky: it was distinctly Rust Belt so I guessed Central Ohio and coincidentally it was very close (that was my best guess; but it was a lot of luck: it could have been anywhere in Ohio, most of Pennsylvania, etc so I guessed Ohio as the rough middle point). The fifth was interesting: the signs had Cyrillic lettering but there was also an EU flag flying. I guessed Latvia because IIRC there are some Russian-speaking areas there, but it turned out to be Bulgaria. I had forgotten that Bulgaria was another Cyrillic area of the EU. That was my worst guess.

None of my guesses were as close as that one great guess in the first test, but my score got better because I didn't have any totally terrible guesses. So instead of one great guess, two mediocre ones, and two horrible ones, I had two very good guesses, one mediocre one, and two fairly bad ones. Interesting. This game is fun c:

The post was clarified directly below:

(I re-registered to California)

I should not need "clarification". Again, why can't you (drj) post in English?

I like being loony, but I also don't want to make things hard for you. I thought that posting in Russian and then also posting an English clarification was a sensible compromise that doesn't really require any more work from you.
10  Forum Community / Forum Community / Re: The Good Post Gallery on: May 21, 2013, 05:21:23 pm
Well, I should probably preface this by saying that I'm not as reflexively abhorring of nationalistic overtones the way many on Atlas tend to be, but Abe has demonstrated a very serious attitude when it comes to structural reforms (some good, some bad) in a ferociousness that has eluded Japanese leaders for a long, long time, and his approach to the economy (which can basically be summed up as "grow the economy, at all cost") has been fairly effective thusfar.

It's hard to hate his moxie, I suppose. Japan faces a lot of challenges very unique to them, and Abe has presented an agenda that he seems to be completely serious about implementing, which, in it's own right, is hard to not be impressed by. I suppose the best way I can compliment him is that, while he has a lot of negatives, he seems like the kind of leader Japan desperately needs.

His nationalism is a concern, his proposals for Constitutional reform are a little scary, his cabinet is pretty right-wing, and his party doesn't exactly have an impressive record in the last couple decades, to put it mildly, but Abe is a very interesting high-risk/high-reward kind of figure at the moment. He's a radical, to be sure.. but sometimes you have to take a chance with a radical.
11  Forum Community / Off-topic Board / Re: GeoGuessr on: May 21, 2013, 05:17:51 pm
My first score.

The first one was easy: one of the buildings had Belgian and Flemish flags flying. The second one was obviously Scandinavian scenery: I guessed Finland and it turned out to be Sweden. The third and fourth I blew: in the third I thought I saw a Texas flag flying and it turned out to be New Brunswick and in the fourth I had no idea so I guessed Southern US and it turned out to be Brazil. I saw Japanese lettering on the fifth, but only did okay because I guessed roughly the middle of Honshu and it turned out to be Hokkaido.

Actually, I've thought about the idea of something resembling Hyperfeminismland a bit. Though RI's post makes it clear that "non-cisgendered" people are held up in Hyperfemnismland, I'm actually not sure what the role of trans people would be in such a society. One issue would be the possibility of men claiming to be trans in order to get more rights and escape social oppression. I'm not sure how common this would be; living as a gender you don't really feel that you are is extremely difficult in a way that most people here probably can't understand. It's not entirely unheard of; see for example gay people changing sex in Iran to escape persecution. Even if it didn't happen, I could see the threat of it happening being used as a political tool by anti-trans factions. RI's description of Hyperfeminismland does sound like a caricature of radical 70s second-wave feminism, which has a lot of anti-trans strains.

In theory, I suppose with advanced technology, some types of brain scanning could be used to detect trans people, but I don't think that would be entirely reliable, both because I do feel that (for myself, at least) there was at least some aspect of conscious choice, not just innate factors, involved in being trans, and because a lot of these studies don't really show the potential to detect absolutely who is trans, only a relative likelihood of such.

Overall, I think that trans issues would be a divisive political issue in Hyperfeminismland.

Creeper alert.

Hyperfeminismland ftw. But it would be nicer with male sex slaves, which would also help sustain population level.

I am not sure why you think a radical feminist matriarchy would have such a negative attitude towards heterosexual activity. If women controlled society 100% the male sexual exploitation they are against would disappear.

If women had "indentured male servants" why wouldn't they use them for sex?
That's a little scary.

And more than we need to know about his her fetishes.

Partly joking here and partly trying to be analytical.

If you give one gender complete control sexual exploitation of the other gender is inevitable.

All the countries are horrible, but if I should chose one I would prefer the option where my gender was in control. Its less freaky than my race having all the power. And the two other options are unacceptable to me. A police state and a plutocracy would both be too oppressive for a freedom loving person like me. So I am left with choosing between two versions where I get to be free, but others are oppressed.

Do you have a picture?  I have a picture in my mind and I just want to see how closely it matches reality.

I used to date a tall blond from Denmark.  I really liked the conversations.  It was very different thinking from Americans.

Anyway Bloomberg land for me.  I like aspects of your Hyperfeminismland vision but the majority of American women are overweight or obese so no... strictly platonic.  I need free will to hand pick a mate.

I had my first threesome this weekend. It was quite fun :3

What happened more or less? Genders and general roles/activities, please.

Not sure how much I'll share on Atlas, but relevant to you, one of the other people involved was an Asian trans girl. Chinese, not Thai, though.

Obvious trolling is obvious, yet I'd still go with hyperfeminismland in an instant. Actually, I'd probably be in the social elite there :p

I'm tired of thousands of "previous poster" threads where people give meaningless, trite, and unexplained answers to pointless questions, or the inane positivity of threads like that "Is the previous poster an FF or HP" thread where every single person posts "FF" without even giving a single reason. So let's try something different.

In this thread, I want you to give your real opinions of the preceding poster, being as detailed and honest as possible. Talk about their strengths and their flaws, because people are much more complicated than just "FF" or "HP".

Aww man, I miss the hell out of Wegmans. Sad

Don't we all?

When I visited the University of Rochester to tour their PhD program they were like "this afternoon, you have some free time!" and one of the grad students I had been talking to was like "LET'S GO TO WEGMANS" and I was like "...they're seriously taking us to a grocery store...?" but then we went and I was like "OH MY GOD IT'S SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST A GROCERY STORE WEGMANS IS A LIFESTYLE" and it remains one of the saddest parts of turning down Rochester Sad

You're at UMD yes? Didn't a new wegmans open up last year in pg county?

20  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Comrade Kitteh for Pacific Council: F**K THE MIDEAST on: May 21, 2013, 12:44:27 am
So, it seems that I have lost the recent Mideast election. Some authorities are disputing the number of votes that I received, and I do not believe that official results reflect my true showing among the voters. Furthermore, it is outrageous that some people >_> are trying to annul the votes of legal voters! This is a travesty to democracy and our region.

I do feel that the recent election was a success: I accomplished my goal of de-borifying the race. This went from one of the most boring elections in Atlasia to a very interesting and out-of-the-ordinary one in the time I was in this race.

But the state of degeneracy this region has reached, with court-led coups invalidating valid voters and moderate heroes rampaging reasonably across the Rust Belt, has left me no other choice. I have a message for the Mideast:

I am moving back to my home state of California and starting afresh by running for the Pacific Council in the recall election.

24  General Politics / Individual Politics / Am I a bad feminist/hypocrite because I like Jay-Z and Eminem? on: May 20, 2013, 10:05:56 pm
This is an issue I've personally thought about. These guys obviously have some serious issues with women. On some level it feels hypocritical for someone with my views to listen to "Love the Way You Lie" or "99 Problems"...yet I actually like both these songs as music while despising their message and undertones. Thoughts?
