Not really. Robert Taft was a conservative, not Eisenhower.

No. While Taft was more conservative than Eisenhower, Ike was not the underling of Dewey as he is sometimes portrayed. The difference was that Taft wanted to rollback the New Deal, which was obviously politically impossible. Eisenhower was content to leave the New Deal together while he focused on foreign affairs, but he resisted LBJ's attempts to expand it numerous times.

So he's a conservative that didn't really do much of anything conservative in his eight years in office. Gotcha.

He was a moderate then and he's very moderate now. He certainly wasn't conservative.

I detect an extreme amount of malevolence, envy, and resentment over the success Romney has achieved in life.

I dare say Mitt Romney has achieved more success in one year than most members of this forum are likely to achieve in a lifetime.  Just sayin'.

Will Romney ever run for anything again?  Of course not.

I've outperformed my father while Mitt is no more successful than George. When comparing situations, I feel quite alright with how I've turned out.

Opposing progressive legislation is not conservative? This is the same Eisenhower who warned of "creeping socialism" during his campaign. Is the only way to be conservative to roll back the New Deal? Then I'm sure you will happily accept George Bush and Richard Nixon into the liberal ranks.

That Eisenhower did not accomplish during his presidency what are "conservative goals" does not mean anything. He was content with running foreign policy and what little oversight he did give over domestic issues was mostly concerned with heading off LBJ.

Sorry man, building roads is not just a liberal position.

LOL. Name some conservative things Eisenhower actually did, please. The Southern Manifesto of all things was written during his presidency, not a liberal Democrat's.

Eisenhower was a moderate who entered the race after fellow moderates begged for him to stop Taft. He wasn't a liberal like Dewey and Rockefeller, but Ike was far closer to them than Robert Taft (a real conservative).

Financial success is simply one aspect of Romney's life.

His greatest legacy is his family.

The can't smoke, can't drink and can't even f*** (if their purpouse isn't having a child) because that's sinning for mormons. What a success! They may have money, but there are many things I do that they can't Smiley

BTW, I don't smoke. But it's better than losing an election for the second time in a row.

My friend, you are so misinformed it is truly sad.

They can't smoke?  What, and get lung cancer?

They can't drink?  What, and become alcoholics and lose their jobs, their families, and develop liver disease?

True, they do not smoke or drink, however, they are free to indulge in these vices if they so choose.  They have chosen, however, to follow the right path, and avoid these addictive and harmful substances.

And in case you are not aware, sexual intimacy between a couple is an important part of a relationship, and not simply for the purpose of conceiving a baby.  Please contact your nearest therapist.  They will be able to further explain this to you.

You forgot to expound on the evils of coffee and colored folk.

So you believe that colored folk , to use your words, are evil.  I certainly do not believe that, but you evidently do.

After all, you just said You forgot to expound on the evils of .......... colored folk.

Shame on you.

I'd like to think this is sarcasm in reply to my sarcasm. Or at least, I sure hope that's what it is.

Of course Mormons have sex (many don't), but some (almost all) of them believe it's not good.

You don't get lung cancer if you smoke. It can happen, but it can not happen, too Wink

BTW, many people drink and only a small minority lose their jobs, their families, and develop liver disease. Maybe it's your case, but it's not usual, you see.

Not to talk about coffee, of course.

Even vegans have a better life than a millionaire Mormon!

Anyone who smokes, drinks, or takes illicit drugs would have to be out of their mind.

Are you a Mormon?
