My two cents (also as one of her constituents): Cathy is a good Congresswoman... but I don't think she'd make a great Speaker. The traits that make her effective for her constituents - deep ties to the district, advocacy on issues that matter to WA-5, terrific constituent services - aren't what make a great Speaker. She's not very charismatic. I doubt she'd have much sway with the hardliners, since she's to the left of McCarthy (no moderate, but still less conservative than him). I don't see it.
Though it would be cool for WA-5 to produce a
second Speaker. I wonder if any one district has ever produced two Speakers before?
