Apparently Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is likely to enter as well. Who would win that primary battle?

Probably Jenkins.

Because they're insane political illiterates who spend all their time in an activist-heavy ideological bubble, most likely on a place like Tumblr or lefty Reddit.

I do think that there is potential for a left-wing populist (not even so much a Bernie-crat, but maybe more of a Webb-style populist) to be formidable in West Virginia, so I wouldn't exactly write her off under the guise of "muh bernie bros!!!!!"

I don't disagree with this premise, though I haven't seen anything to suggest Justice Dems are hankering for a Jim Webb Democrat

Odd. Jenkins strikes me as the "Trumpier" candidate being an ex-Dem and all

Manchin flirted with dropping out, citing annoyance with the Senate and Democratic disrespect for moderates, but is running for reelection.

He can do more to rebuild the moderate Dem brand from within the Senate than from outside of it

Wow, I hadn't realized he didn't file for re-election. Close one.

Yep.

Take this with a huge grain of salt, obviously:

I will laugh and laugh and laugh if Blankenship ends up getting the nomination.

Oh man... I don’t think Blankenship wins, but how hilarious would it be if the GOP pissed their chance away because of him?

It’s worth mentioning that the WV GOP has historically been quite weak, and sort of stumbled into power due to D collapse and party switching. They lack the institutional strength for field clearing, I think.

Rofl...78% voted YES

He’s bringing up a fair point IMO. This Blankenship run is nonsense

Jenkins has a new ad out, trying to make the Senate race about Hillary Clinton and throwing in some strong dog-whistles in there too and how liberals will 'take our guns'.

Ok Rs can bash Dem places as crime riddled and drug infested but not the other way around. Can you imagine a Dem candidate running an ad like this? And what Hillary said is nothing compared to what Jenkins is doing it’s far worse.

You’re forgetting that Rs are Real Americanstm

Am I the only one a bit concerned about Manchin’s so-so fundraising? I know he’s got plenty of COH but I hope his heart is in the race.

Be real guys. Blankenship is a criminal. Even if he gets a boost from Hillary, he's still a worse candidate than Jenkins and Morrissey (both of which I think beat Manchin).

I mean, eh, kind of.

Blakenship is trash but there's a reason he's resonating in the primaries - he's resonating because he has a narrative arc. He was locked up and framed by muh corrupt Obama and muh corrupt EPA who hate your life style. A lot of people will see through that but a lot of people won't and a lot of people don't vote in West Virginia.

What do Jenkins or Morrissey have? Morrissey is a carpet bagger from New Jersey who comes off kind of weird and his last few ads have a... doomed candidate quality to them. Evan Jenkins is a hyper ambitious political psycho but thanks to West Virginia's political history that comes with a political record with quite a few liberal votes.

Jenkins is probably the best general election candidate of the three but he has a certain detached political hack quality to him that's vaguely off-putting that is a stark contrast to Joe Manchin who, I've said many negative things about, but at least comes off as genuine. Morrissey would probably be a very bad general election candidate and Don Blakenship knows how to sell political narrative clearly but the real story is horrifying and Blakenship should've been in jail for a lot lot longer.

Not confident about Manchin's chances in a nearly 70% Trump state, but these candidates give me a slither of hope.

I will never understand how anyone can believe such a narrative about Blankenship (not accusing you by the way -- I think you are right, I'm talking about voters who feel that way). Blood from Upper Big Branch is not directly on his hands but he is hugely culpable. How people in a state full of working class people with one of the richest labor movement histories of any of the states can vote for such a disgusting monster is beyond me.

Because oogily boogily Obummer lieberals!!1!

I'm too lazy to do any research myself, is the primary winner take all or will there be a runoff?

I believe it is winner take all

The Americapersons of West Virginia are uniting around their cocaine-combating champion!

(In all seriousness I still think Morrissey wins)

Re: Russiagate, as I’ve long said, GOP voters and Trump have nobody to blame but themselves. Everybody knew he had skeletons in his closet, and he didn’t have to wait to can Comey for four months then admit it was over Russia to Lester Holt

As for WV... still think Morrissey takes it narrowly. That said I wouldn’t be surprised if any of the three won.
