I have a feeling he's against it?
He is an NDPer and he is against it. He is also a fundamentalist Muslim, and he presented it as a representative of the Islamic Congress of Canada or something like that.
Ummm...you are forgetting something. New Democrats are in favour of same-sex marriage. If not, then they dont belong in the party.
Which is why he left the party for the Liberals. The NDP would have had his vote if Clayton didn't basically threaten all the MPs they'd be expelled from the party if they didn't vote according to party doctrine, even if it was against their conscience.
Don't kid yourself: he is very, very left. Supports everything I honestly hate. However, he is also very traditionalist, and while he supports legalized prostitution, civil unions, drugs, etc., he is opposed to changing marriage.
Since Clayton's remarks, the NDP just lost another vote which will go to the Liberals. However, he still calls himself an NDPer.
