In Alabama, you need a conservative democrat and a Yankee liberal to moderate republican. Pretty much impossible now, but hypothetically that would work. Utah is a different story, it would take some ridiculous landslide or a long-term migration of non-Mormons and Hispanics. The main problem with that though is many people come to Utah and then become Mormons
. Utah would have to be a completely different state in the future to go democrat. Akin to Florida in 1920 vs. Florida in 1970. So yes, Utah.
