The Cold Warrior

56% Utilitarian, 68% Nationalist, 65% Liberal, 0% Statist and 75% Individualist!

You subscribe to the view that there should be a small government at home to protect individual rights, and a powerful national presence abroad to protect the rights of others.  You believe in the values of capitalism and democracy, and believe they should be exported to every country.  You are similar to Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, or John McCain.

Terrible test, IMO. I answered "yes" to "We live in the greatest nation in the world" for example, but that doesn't mean I'm a neocon or a nationalist (I think that's what that assumed). I also felt like there were many poorly worded and written questions.

Compass:
You are a right social libertarian. Right: 5.71, Libertarian: 8

Foreign Policy:

On the left side are pacifists and anti-war activists. On the right side are those who want a strong military that intervenes around the world. You scored: -6.08

Culture:
Where are you in the culture war? On the liberal side, or the conservative side? This scale may apply more to the US than other countries. You scored: -4.62

http://www.gotoquiz.com/politics/obama-vs-romney.html

Obama vs. Romney quiz. I didn't like this one because the bar is too sensitive (too much space you can move it to). It gave me some results that really should be more strong then they are.

Overall: 50/50
Economy and Jobs: 70/30 Romney
Values and Social Issues: 64/36 Obama
Foreign Policy: 67/33 Obama
Budget, Taxes, and Regulation: 59/41 Romney (really, only 59!?)
Environment: 72/28 Romney
Civil Liberties: 73/27 Obama
Immigration: 52/48 Obama
Health and Education: 59/41 Obama

Young Outsider

This relatively young, largely independent group holds a mix of conservative and liberal views. And while more lean toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, Young Outsiders generally express unfavorable opinions of both major parties. They are largely skeptical of activist government, as a substantial majority views government as wasteful and inefficient. Yet many diverge from the two conservative typology groups – Steadfast Conservatives and Business Conservatives – in their strong support for the environment and many liberal social policies.

Note: I thought both answers for question 7 were bad.

On most of the abortion related matters, I voted with the Republicans because of the fiscal impact, not because I'm pro-life. Other than that I agreed with Republicans on all but three things (Paycheck Fairness Act, DC and Utah representation, and shutting down Guantanamo Bay).

Total Libertarian
You scored 28% economically responsible, 79% self-destructively free and 73% expressively free.

Rules only hinder progress! Free market, free speech, free bodies!

Economy (conservative): The government shouldn't baby individuals through the predictable storms of supply and demand. The system will naturally readjust itself to problems without government intervention. Furthermore, imposing arbitrary rules against success is actually unfair as it ignores the hard work of the successful.

Personal Freedom (liberal): If it only involves me, what right does anyone have to tell me no? A person should be allowed to be as stupid and harmful to themselves as they want, and letting the government go in, imposing majority morality, is dangerously tyrannical.

Expressive Freedom (liberal): This is a free country, isn't it? Why should my voice be silenced, just because you don' t like what it has to say? If I can do it in private, I can do it in public. You're always free to leave. Hampering a person's right to free expression is dangerously tyrannical.

You scored 28% on Economic, higher than 14% of your peers.
You scored 79% on Self Freedom, higher than 88% of your peers.
You scored 73% on Expressive, higher than 95% of your peers.
You scored 79% on Knowledge, higher than 72% of your peers

You scored 84% Personal Liberty and 78% Economic Liberty!

A left libertarian believes in little to no government intervention on personal matters and little to moderate government intervention on economic matters. They generally believe in a government that is extremely small and limited to the extent of protecting people's liberty. They tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, foreign intervention and what they consider to be a welfare state. They strongly support self-ownership and support property rights. They support capitalism as an economic system. Libertarian thought is individualist in nature.

You scored 84% on Personal, higher than 91% of your peers.
You scored 78% on Economic, higher than 89% of your peers.

It was a pretty hefty test, but I enjoyed it.
