No, I am pro-communist/pro-Marxist, because I favor the emancipation of mankind from the shackles of capitalist exploitation, religious dogma, etc, etc.

To those of you who say communism is dead and buried, I'd point you to the five states which are ruled by communist parties and which remain alive and well in the 21st Century, in spite of their bureaucratic deformations. One of those is the People's Republic of China, which in spite of market reforms still has its core industries under state ownership and utilizes economic planning to drive growth. It has performed fairly spectacularly over the past few decades and poses enough of a threat to the bourgeois powers that they've begun to engage in strategies to isolate it (Pivot to Asia, Transpacific Partnership, etc., etc.).

Likewise, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Cuba, The Democratic Republic of Laos, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam all still stand today as testaments to the superiority of planned economies compared to the anarchy of the capitalist market system. In these countries, medical care, housing, and education are guaranteed and not dependent upon who your parents were, where you hail from, or what accent you speak with. In short, these countries have done what the capitalist system will never do, i.e. create a fully functioning welfare state that won't be rolled back the next time a right-wing (or 'left-wing' social democratic/eurocommunist) party is elected to government.

These countries suffer from bureaucratic deformities and unfortunately are run by Stalinist bureaucracies that deny their populations the right to fully participate in the planning of production and likewise have defects in that they promote stupid, parochial nationalisms as opposed to internationalist politics. But even so, they represent a massive advance compared to capitalist 'democracies' where the only freedom you are guaranteed is the 'freedom' to be a slave to some nonworking parasite.

Hopefully in the 21st Century we'll see political revolution in the states where capitalism has already been overthrown and the subsequent introduction of real workers' democracy there. And likewise, hopefully we'll also see new October Revolutions in the places where capitalism has yet to be overthrown.

If anything, we should be encouraging Columbus Day.  It serves as a reminder of our nations founding.

Uh Columbus not only had nothing to do with the founding of the United States (nor did he ever set foot in any modern day US territory), but he predated the founding of the US by a greater time than the Declaration of Independence predates the present day.

I've had it with this attack on Jeb Bush for being low energy for starters. Jeb Bush has more integrity in his pinky than Donald Trump has in his entire body, Governor Bush has proven he is a lot smarter than Mr. Trump, and Jeb Bush has never been involved with organized crime.

Now, to the point at hand here, Donald Trump is completely reckless. If he had his way, Saddam Hussein would still be in power, murdering people, throwing people in prison camps, and he'd have weapons of mass destruction. George W. Bush's policy towards Iran crippled Iran's economy and forced them to the negotiating table, the deal we have is a disaster but Trump would have engaged with direct talks with Iran as well. George W. Bush's policy in Afghanistan was a victory against the taliban and a victory for human rights. Thing in the middle east are unstable today, and one person can't be blamed for it. But the truth is, the U.S. is safer because of the policies of President George W. Bush.  Donald Trump dislikes President George W. Bush because the entire Bush family can't be bought and that makes him angry.

But as that map shows the Pacific Northwest has plenty of Germans, just like here. Many of whom were Catholic and a majority in many areas. And they immigrated pretty early too.

You cant be serious. Germans aren't real Catholics. That isn't even remotely close to a national identity.

To be even more transparent: I'm a human being, not some sort of automaton and I'm a Mexican one at that. As a result, this election has #rattled me and I feel angry and irritated all of the time. Because I spend a lot of my time reading and writing high-falutin publications, I feel the need to express myself using bigger words and such and to make my statements appear more meaningful. This leads to polemics that are mostly just vitriol. I'm letting off steam.

I'm not particularly pleased that I have to bear the burden of being Mexican this election cycle and feel irritated that other people are more concerned about FREE SPEECH and muh liberal freedoms than millions of families being separated or a current of xenophobia that's sweeping the West, yes. Are you surprised? Did you really have to make these posts to unearth this fact? Come on man! It's not that complex. Frankly, I'm irritated that you guys can afford to be "reasonable" because, ultimately, xenophobia and general hostility towards racial minorities has no affect on your existence.

It's very hard to tell imho. On the one hand it's a caucus state, which favors Bernie. But on the other hand it's Obama's alleged birth state, which ought to make it Hillary territory.

Let's just say Cruz is nominated on the second ballot at the contested convention and he selects Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin as his VP pick. How would it affects the swing states (i.e. Wisconsin)  in the election and who would win? Discuss with maps.

My own prediction:

Ted Cruz / Scott Walker (R) - 50.3% PV, 270 EVS
Hillary Clinton / Julian Castro (D) - 48.7% PV, 268 EVS

This would be a scenario in which Trump wouldn't run as an Independent, that would all but guarantee a Democratic landslide. So I have Cruz/Walker winning because of their ability to flip mid-western states such as IA, MN, WI. They also flip CO which has been trending R for most of this year, & FL by a thin margin.
