Who was the better side in the Spanish-Aztec War?

I've long held that Cortez and the Spanish conquistadors were actually the lesser of two evils. I mean yeah they were quite notoriously nasty, but the Aztec Empire was basically a 16th century New World version of Nazi Germany.

How was the Aztec empire like that? Kinda curious. Are you referring to sacrifices or something within the government itself?

That and that it was based around enslaving neighboring tribes.

Tough choice between human sacrifices and the inquisition. Went with the Spanish.

The inquisition was actually nowhere near as bad as it's commonly portrayed. The vast majority of people "convicted" under it were only fined and/or required to sign some sort of proclamation of faith.
