I never said it was completely wrong in any moral sense - I was saying that it's almost never how it is done in this country. You are one or the other, you will be born one and will die as one in the vast majority of cases (those that don't usually just drop identifying with either, but those cases are often more complicated than they seem). I don't think this setup is particularly ethical and certainly not justifiable if one were to take the truth claims of religions seriously, but who does that?
But the context was you and oakvale expressing disapproval with the fact that the US does NOT have that setup as you described.
