If you had kids...Would you allow your child to receive a swine flu vaccine?

I don't know.  The death rate is tiny, arguably not enough to justify the time + money + side effect potential.  But diseases are exponential (...kind of) and that's nice to reduce.  And is avoiding inconvenience and worry about those around you (to some degree) worth the $12 or whatever it would be (plus a minor risk of side effects)?  Probably.

I'd have to look into it specifically.

I'd give them a choice but certainly allow it. The vaccine seems very safe though, looks like a case of virtually no risk and no loss except about $20 vs. a very small risk. The former is still safer.

Well, every vaccine does have side effects, but I doubt that they justify avoiding this.  Plus, even if the risk of Swine Flu is pretty trivial, does it seriously not justify $12 and five minutes?  $12 and five minutes (even when you add in the minute side effects) is really damn trivial itself.
