Well I'll be damned. The Cheneys might actually be right.

Even they were way off. Cantor was up by 13 (and over 50%) in this poll, he looks set to lose by 12 points.

But considering Cantor had an internal showing him up 34 points just a week ago, this shows how useless internals are. I'm wondering if that was an actual poll result, or just made up numbers he fed to the media.

There's no way he could win a write-in candidacy, but one would give the Democrat a real shot at winning, since Cantor certainly wouldn't be getting any crossover support. It will just divide Republicans.

It would be smart for the the Dems nationwide, at this point, to embrace the likes of Cochran and Cantor. Whether Cantor was or was not a moderate is irrelevant: he has to be a moderate now, at least in the Dems telling of it. The narrative should be: Republicans are killing off their moderates, those who are trying to make things work. Whether the local candidate is moderate or not, he will be in the caucus with the Brats and McDaniels. It will not hurt the actual Brats and McDaniels, of course, but it can build a narrative useful in more moderate places.

Isn't there more than enough evidence of the GOP purging moderates without having to pretend Cantor is one?

He is definitely not in the same group as people like Lugar, Murkowski, Crist...
