We should privatize the TVA not auction it off as several members have said above. I personally believe that auctioning it off would overall be a bad idea and could either lead to less than reputable corporations buying the TVA, it being split up between several different companies who may be competitors, or it could be auctioned off to a non-stable firm that may go into backruptcy. Privitization, yes, auctioning, no, to put my thoughts into the simplest of terms.

I agree with several others when I say that I believe an IPO of the TVA may be an option that we could look at. The problem is whether the TVA actually produces a profit or if it is currently operating on a loss. Taking the TVA public may bring more of the financial burden upon shareholders and not the federal government as well as slowly privatize this government entity.

They are quite broad. I may try working up an amendment offering up 51% of the TVA to an IPO.

Well if this is making $800 million dollars for the Federal Government every year I see now need as of now to privatize it unless someone can give me a convincing argument otherwise.
