Olmert isn't going to last a full term. Hopefully he'll be ditched in favor of Peres before that and there isn't a new election until much later when Netanyahu can be beat. A Netanyahu victory means the reoccupation of Gaza, an end to any West Bank withdrawl, and of course the violence growing much worse and many more people killed on both sides which of course will make jmfcst super-happy.

I doubt Kadima will accept a Peres lead coalition and after his handling of the Lebanon crisis as Minister of Defence he will be in for some rough times ahead once he goes in front of the electorate. Not only was Olmert's credibility destroyed by Lebanon but also Peres credibility and ability to handle the defence of Israel.
